David:Imagine I take a thin metal plate and scatter sand across it. At first, the sand is just sitting there. And then I take sound waves and I point them towards the sand. And the sand begins to move. And then a pattern appears. The sand begins to dance across the plate, organizing itself into some of the most amazing geometric shapes that you've ever seen. And then I change the frequency of the sound, so the pattern changes and the sand reorganizes into an entirely new, complex pattern. What we're witnessing is invisible energy in a simple form, like sound restructuring physical matter. Now, here's the question. If an invisible sound wave can shape physical matter like sand, is it possible that the material experience of what you call reality is also being shaped and formed by an invisible, energetic force? Because most of us look at our lives and we see the patterns of our reality only after they've formed. We see the patterns in our relationships, the money in our bank account, the challenges and opportunities that show up on a day to day basis. But what if we had the ability to change the vibration that is creating the pattern and transform our experience of the material world? Now, I'm not going to tell you that you can think a thought and make a Lamborghini show up in your garage, but the question is, what have you been practicing at an energetic level that's creating or holding this pattern in place? And what can you do differently to transform and reshape that pattern? I believe that question can fundamentally change your life. So in this episode, I'm going to introduce you to the study of something pretty amazing called cymatics. How vibration organizes matter into structure and shape. You're going to discover how your inner state may be shaping your reality. And I'm going to give you a practical way to interrupt a pattern that has been holding some problem or challenge in place so that you can transform it into a reality that reflects back what you actually want. So let's get into it. Welcome to A Changed Mind, a journey into the topics that matter to you most. From the neuroscience and spirituality of mindset and personal growth, to groundbreaking strategies for health, wealth and relationships, to open and honest conversations about pressing global issues such as the environment, censorship, corporate capture, and democracy. Each and every episode reminds us of the certainty of the goodness of the future and provides the teachings, tools, and timeless wisdom, um, inspiring you to create real, lasting change in your life and in the world. If you've been desiring a sanctuary for your spirit, a place to go to tune out the distraction, negativity and doom and gloom so that you can tap into the deep power, the vibrancy and the potential you have inside. You're in the right place. Welcome to a changed mind. All right, guys, I want to explain something really extraordinary called cymatics. Now, cymatics is the study of how vibration produces visible patterns and physical materials. And the classic example is the one that I described. You put sand on a plate, and you make the plate vibrate, and the sand moves. And depending upon the type of frequency, the sand organizes into really complex mandala, like geometric shapes. One of the early pioneers of cymatics was a man named Ernst Chladny, and he used a violin bow to make metal plates vibrate. And he showed people the patterns that appeared in the sand. And this was centuries ago, but you can imagine how shocking this would be to somebody witnessing this. Invisible forces like sound shaping the physical world. In the 20th century, a man named Hans Jenny documented all kinds of these phenomena using sand and powders and paste and liquid. Jenny was the one who coined the term cymatics. And then this guy, Masaru Emoto, uh, you may have heard of him, he took cymatics to another level. Emoto and his team put water into separate jars and put labels on the bottles with words or phrases like thank you or love and gratitude or, you're an idiot. For other experiments, they played music to the water, or they had people direct prayer or intention towards it. And then they took small drops from each water sample, froze them, and then they looked at the frozen drops under a microscope. And what Emoto reported finding was that the drops from the jars that had labels like thank you or love and gratitude produced photographs of really complex, orderly, beautiful, geometrically patterned crystals. And water that had labels with insulting phrases like, you idiot, were reported to produce unstructured and broken formations that had little organization and shape. Based on this, what Emoto claimed was that the meaning or intention presented or directed toward the water influenced its structure. And he found similar results when people prayed or sang or played music near the water. So Chladni made sand move into beautiful patterns through vibration and sound. Emoto exposed water to words and music and intention and noticed significant differences when comparing frozen droplets. And what cymatics is showing us is that vibration can organize a particular physical material and can hold that structure as long as the vibration persists. And that the quality of the vibration, of the frequency, determines the structure, the beauty, and the order of the material formed. So let's translate this to something more practical. Is it possible that reality is like water or sand or powder? In other words, a Field of potential, and that you can influence that energy or that potential into different shapes and structures that materialize. And that as long as you maintain your influence, the structure holds in place. And when you change, the influence, that structure changes. Now, uh, this is very much in alignment with the idea that you create your reality. The question would be, what is the influence that you're generating on your reality that is forming it into a physical structure? And the answer that seems obvious to someone exploring this idea is that it is your energy because you are the source of a significant amount of energetic output. I want you to think about this. You have thousands of thoughts every single day. Those thoughts trigger hundreds, if not thousands of emotions every single day. And each of those thoughts and each of those emotions are electrical impulses and broadcasts that are taking place from the neural networks in your brain and from your nervous system. It's like a symphony, every moment of every day of trillions of neurons playing a wide variety of frequencies. Add to that that the average person speaks something like 12,000 to 16,000 words in a day. And all of that is frequency. And the suggestion is that all of this frequency is interacting with what you might call the field, or the Hindus referred to it as the Akasha, or in New Age, it's referred to as the fourth dimension, or the ether, or source energy. And that field is organizing into this thing that we call reality. So you are the violinist, and you are holding a pattern in place vis a vis your personal symphony. And that pattern is called your life. And I want you to think for a moment about the tune that you're playing. The labels that you are putting on the jar, are they positive labels or negative labels? How often are you beating yourself up or criticizing yourself or saying things like, I'm not as far along as I should be, or money is hard to make, or nobody helps me. What are the words that you're saying out loud? How often do you complain or criticize others? And I'm not saying you're wrong for thinking or feeling or speaking the way you do. But what I'm saying is that we need to understand that these are the labels that we are putting on the jar. And that is why the ancients and the sages and the scriptures, they all speak to this concept that you need to watch what you think and what you say. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of what your mind. This is where I think some of the spiritual teachings become really interesting. Like Maybe you've heard of the law of attraction or the law of vibration or the law of correspondence or the Mirror principle. These aren't identical concepts, but they're all pointing us toward a relationship between what's going on within us and what we experience in the world around us. Now, one of the distinctions that I teach is called the two states of being. Essentially, we only operate in one of two states. Either a powerful state or a primal state. You are always in one state of being or the other, and you're never in two states of being at the same time. And a primal state is where we're operating from limiting beliefs and negative emotions. Emotions like stress or anxiety, shame, resentment, guilt that might be generated by thoughts like, I'm, um, not enough, or I'm behind. This is never going to work out, or nobody cares about me. In fact, what's interesting is that the only thing that moves you into a primal state are the thoughts themselves. In other words, it's not the amount of money in your bank account. It's not how far along you are on a project or in your life. It's not the circumstance or situation that is making you feel a particular way. Your thoughts are the only contributors to the way that you feel. The only thing causing you to feel that way is what you're thinking, not the experience that you're having. And when you're in that state, that means you've slapped a negative label on your jar. And so what's happening in that moment is that you are inviting reality to organize or crystallize into experiences, circumstances and situations that are going to be broken or disorderly or undesirable. A powerful state is when you feel something like joy or excitement or peace or curiosity. In that state, you think thoughts that feel good, like, this is going to work out, or life is abundant, or it feels good to have support, or I'm grateful for the way things are. Those are the labels you're putting on your jar from a powerful state. And therefore, life begins to organize in ways that reflect those thoughts and emotions. Back to you again. This is sometimes why this phenomenon is described as the law of attraction or the law of correspondence. Because life corresponds to your predominant habit of vibration, which is your habit of belief and habit of thought and habit of feeling in the words that you speak. So let me share a personal example. There are plenty of times when I'm working on something that matters enormously to me. And I can feel the pressure to get it exactly right. In fact, that was happening to me just this Morning, my mind starts saying, if I don't figure this out quickly, I'm going to run out of time. Or if I make the wrong decision, this whole thing might not work. And when I'm in that state, I may think I'm being responsible. But if I look closely, I can actually see the effects. I. I feel more urgency. I have less patience, I have less presence. I can put pressure on the people around me when what we really need is peace or calm or room to think or space to let new perspectives or ideas drop in. So I have to notice when I move into a primal state and say, okay, what is the thought or belief that is creating this feeling for me? Like, what label did I just slap on the jar? Because a primal state is not going to help me to be creative and successful. That's not the energy that is going to attract help or synchronicity or resources. The water of life is going to reflect back to me whatever label I'm putting on the jar. But the good news is that I have the pen in hand. I get to choose what label I give myself for my life or my reality. And through the power of frequency, I can change my reality. That's the implication of cymatics. Now, let's take this a step further. Remember, Emoto was showing how water as a medium is responsive to words or to thoughts or to prayers. What's interesting is our bodies are 60% water. Your lungs are 83% water. Your brain and heart 73%, muscles and kidneys, 79%. Your water and skin, 64% water. So water is the medium that runs through your entire body. And what Emoto suggests is that water responds to vibration. It responds in orderly, structured, beautiful ways to positive thoughts and words. It becomes unstructured, broken, and ugly when exposed to negative thoughts and words. In other words, the labels or beliefs that you're holding aren't just shaping your external world. They're actually influencing the structure of the water in your body. So it's worth asking, what message am I sending to my cells? Now, Kyoto University came out with some groundbreaking research in 2025 that demonstrated that sound waves can influence cellular behavior and gene expression. They found that acoustic vibrations activated nearly 190 sound sensitive genes. And this concept, which I'm not making up, is called cellular hearing. And when you look at how much stress modern society is processing, the limiting beliefs, the unprocessed traumas, the anxiety, the depression, the danger, the anger, it doesn't take a leap of faith to imagine that maybe, just maybe, the Water in our body is responding to the label that we're slapping on it. You know, recently I was speaking at an event with about 150 entrepreneurs, and I asked how many of them were dealing with some form of chronic pain or fibromyalgia or, uh, skin issues, digestive issues, back issues, autoimmune conditions, something that was affecting their day to day experience. And about 80 to 85% of the hands went up in the room. And it brought up an awareness of how we tend to speak to our bodies when we don't feel good. Like what happens when you wake up in pain again after hoping today would be different. Or you see something on your skin that worries you, or you're exhausted and you can't do what you had planned. Because most people feel frustrated and then they get angry. And after a little while, there's this feeling that your body is your enemy and you get locked into this label that, that perpetuates the very thing that you're wanting to change. And I want to say this carefully because I know what it's like to be dealing with health issues and to have somebody imply that you caused them by thinking the wrong way. The physical condition is real. And at the same time, if we're living as if we're in a daily battle with our body, that battle becomes another label that is shaping our reality. And it's the same thing with your job or your business or your relationship. Are you directing loving phrases towards those things or are you arguing them because they're not necessarily working the way that you want them to? And I'm not asking you to judge yourself for being angry. Of course you may be angry. I'm asking whether that anger is the only relationship available because there's an opportunity to become aware of the label that you've put on something and to consider changing the label. And I can tell you from my own experience of being single and feeling alone for 10 years and having two homes in foreclosure and a failed business and a bunch of credit card debt and little to no money in my name, feeling purposeless in my life to now having more money than I ever thought possible, married to the woman of my dreams, doing something I'm, um, passionate about on a daily basis, what changed was the label. It wasn't that I figured out some magical financial strategy or bought a bunch of cryptocurrency, or built the perfect profile on a dating app, or found some novel business idea, because I didn't. I changed the way I looked at my current Reality and my current reality changed. So I want to do this real quick together. I want you to think of one area of your life where you feel some friction right now. It might be your work. It might be a relationship or money or your health. Something you're trying to create that feels slower or harder than you had hoped, or a problem or a challenge that just doesn't seem to want to shift. And I want you to complete the sentence. When I think about this thing, I worry that blank, okay? This is a really simple way to find the thought or the charge behind it. Because ultimately every negative emotion comes back to some form of fear. Even when you're angry, it's because you're afraid of something. When I think about this thing, I'm worried that blank, okay, could be a lot of different things. Imagine it's, I'm, um, falling behind. Okay? Let's use that as the example. First, we acknowledge what it is that you're thinking and feeling. Okay? There's no argument. There's no attempt to dress it up. It's, I'm, um, falling behind is the belief or the thought that we've found. It's moving us into a primal state. Now ask yourself this question. Does that move you into a powerful or primal state? First, take a look at that. Does that thought make you feel good or make you feel bad? Of course it makes you feel bad, because we've set that up for this example. So it moves you into a primal state. Here's where we want to change the label, because we don't want to continue that have that label on the thing or that belief. What do we want to change it to? Well, some form of the opposite. Like, what's the opposite label that we would want to put on the jar that could crystallize something really beautiful for us in this area of our life, the reality that we want to create. I like to keep this real simple. So I'd say rather than I'm falling behind, it might be something like, I'm right where I need to be, or I'm exactly where I should be. And then ask yourself, this is the next step, the last step. One more question. You want to ask this question a few times? Okay, Got it. What evidence do I have for the fact that this new thought or this new label is true? So, okay, well, what evidence do I have for the fact that I'm right where I need to be? Well, it might be, uh, I'm in my process with this thing. I'm learning as I go along. Everybody and everything Goes at its own pace, but I'm making some progress. Okay, that feels good. That's more in alignment with a powerful state. That's a better thought or a better label, isn't it? Then you ask yourself the question again. Okay, what evidence do I have for the fact that I'm right where I need to be or I'm right on track with this is true? Okay, how about, well, this is the process of learning. Like, every day I'm learning more. I'm understanding how this thing works. I'm starting to build up a little momentum. Every day, I'm a little further along than the last. Okay, cool. That feels more accurate. And it's true, and it feels better. And maybe you ask one more time, what evidence do I have for the fact that this new label, this new belief that I'm exactly where I need to be is true? And you go, okay, um, look, I've been in a place like this before. In fact, I kind of always worry that I'm falling behind, but that's almost never been true. I almost always get things across the finish line. In fact, most of the time, things work out pretty well for me. I feel like I'm getting close to figuring this thing out. I just need to stay consistent for a little longer. And this is the process. And this is the process. It's a simple but really powerful process. We call it the decision matrix. Step one is identify the limiting belief. Step two is a new decision or a new label. Step three is find evidence for the fact that the new decision is true. What's happening is you're taking an old belief, which is a memory, and you're finding an opposite belief, and you're building evidence for it. You're tapping into dormant memories that support this new empowering thought, or this new belief or new decision or new label. And as you do that, you do what's called neural pruning. You start to deactivate the old belief and activate the new one. And it's something you have to practice. But after a little bit of practice, the new belief starts to become the predominant thought. And what eventually happens is that reality begins to reorganize to reflect that new belief back to you. Uh, like change the label on the jar, and you change the way the field of reality organizes. Now, tomorrow, you may notice the old thought again. That doesn't mean you failed. It means you caught the pattern. You can make the decision again. You can take the next action from it. That's why I talk so much about practice. We don't transform ourselves by having one perfect thought. We change as we recognize what we've been repeating and we begin repeating something different. So I want to bring us back to the plate covered in sand because maybe you've spent years labeling I'm not enough. Like maybe you've labeled. Something is always about to go wrong. Maybe it will. It would be. What would it be like? This is the question. To change the label to something like I am enough to everything that happens is perfect. To life is working for my greatest growth, my greatest prosperity or greatest evolution. What would that be like? You don't have to force a beautiful pattern into existence by tomorrow morning. I'm just inviting you into a decision matrix. Start by noticing what's there. Get curious about what you've been labeling and then choose one new decision and see what happens when you live from that new label. That's the practice. Super simple.
