Dog training, veterinary medicine, and holistic healing collide in this powerful conversation. My dog's health is so important to me... I consider so many things including diet, exercise, activities and so much more in an effort to give my dog not only a long life, but a better quality of life as well. Because of that I will try to focus more on things we can do to improve our dogs' lives when it comes to health and wellness. I've recently begun using the EQUUSIR bio mat EMF pad. I have seen my dogs relaxing more and enjoying the rejuvenation on it. I wasn't sure what exactly all of the…
Undoubtedly one of my favorite people to talk with is Jamie Penrith. He's a fantastic human and a great dog trainer, a dog trainer who loves dogs and cares deeply about their well-being. We've been friends for many years and I am lucky to consider him a friend. He is among the best spoken people on the topic of dog training and has the chops to match it. Watch his videos and then sign up for his online training at: https://taketheleadtraining.co.uk Jamie has led a tireless fight for the rights of dog owners to train their dogs their way. This has been part of the foundation of ARDO (the…
This was never planned to be a podcast, but I was so s tricked by the questions Fabian asked me, I felt compelled to share it with everyone. Fabian Alvidrez reached out to me to ask me some questions about a journalism project he is doing for TCU, Texas Christian University. His questions were really deep and important for others to hear, so I'm glad he agreed to let me use this Q&A as a podcast. A little about Fabian: Fabian is a senior Journalism major and Kinesiology minor from Texas Christian University. A lifelong outdoorsman who practices fly fishing, traditional fishing, hunting and…

If you love dogs and are working in any capacity with dogs such as a dog trainer, boarding, grooming, a dog walker or most anything else, listen to the message in this podcast. The IACP is an organization that helps all dog professionals... yes, all of them no matter their ideals or methodologies. It's an organization that cares about dogs and the future of caring for them, not any political agenda. I've been a member for many years and support IACP. Jason is the president of the IACP and we delve into the future of dog training and dog trainers with the current attacks on certain dog…
These guys wrote the book on special operations dogs. Shanon Krieger, Steve Zane Stoops and Mike Reaver are legends in the military police K9 world. Before them the term didn't exist. Terms like Combat Assault Dogs, Spec Ops K9, War Dogs and others were founded by the men in this interview. Best of all, the talk you're about to be. apart of has never been public. Lot's of behind the scenes dirt on what made the program great and what it needs today! The dogs of the US Special Forces comprise the toughest dogs on earth. Manstoppers, pipe hitters; dogs that do what no other dog on earth can…
It's always great to have Avi over and just talk. We never know where the conversation is gonna go and those are my favorite chats. I don't like scripted questions, I believe they make for phony interviews. Now-a-days everyone has a podcast, so I decided to back off on mine. My goal is to only share interesting conversations with people, the kind of conversations I'd like to listen to.. not just a talk to talk. We talked about his dog ORKAN, training, competing and his new endeavor in dog training equipment including the AC STICK. I think you'll like this chat, Avi is a favorite guest…

Mission K9 Rescue is a great organization that helps military dogs. These dogs need special help to be transported back to the USA and get reunited with their handlers. When it comes time to transporting these dogs Mission K9 steps in. They also help handlers get reunited with their canines and help get Contract Working Dogs back to the USA and adopted. It's a great mission they are doing and I really enjoyed this chat with Bob in this podcast. Check out their site here: https://missionk9rescue.org/ #militarydogs #policedog #workingdog

I first met Manny around 2012 when he was working at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. He asked me to come help him with behavioral programs and some troubled dogs. I obliged and we became friends and over the years he spent several opportunities training with me. Manny is a genuine human being who loves dogs and his passion shows through in his work. He has come a long way from those days, and now runs his own training facility in Palm Springs as well as so much more. I'm really proud of the person he is and has become. We share some great stories in this chat that will be inspirational to…

The German Shepherd is a noble, intelligent and intelligent dog. Sadly they have been maligned on different occasions, namely during thee Second World War when Nazi forces used them to commit harmful and sometimes deadly acts on Jews in Concentration Camps. How does this apply to this video? READ ON! The SV (Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde) is an organization that is designed to advocate for and protect the breed. The SV is a fantastic organization that has done so much for the breed. However, recently they have invited a politician who is at the center of some controversy to be a guest at…
Kyle called me one day and said, "How come you never have anyone interview you?" And then immediately said, "I want to interview you on YOUR show!" Now, there aren't many people that I would just say yes to, but I've known Kyle for a long time and respect his passion for dogs - so what could go wrong? LOL. I agreed and we set a time to meet at the park where I do a lot of my training. This chat was very deep and the questions were well thought out and insightful. So, if you want to learn a little more about me - take a listen to this podcast! Kyle has a great demeanor for interviewing…
This podcast will probably blow up the internet and ruffle many feathers. I had no idea where this conversation would go, in fact I wasn't even sure if we were gonna do a podcast. Larry was in town getting ready for a seminar, so I took him to a favorite beach spot to have a beer and some fish tacos. Then we thought, what the heck, let's talk! Our conversations are always like minded, entertaining and meaningful. I'm blessed to count this guy as a very close friend, comrade, fellow dog trainer and more! We often laugh at the same stuff, get frustrated at the same issues and always value each…
PItbulls are one of the most controversial breed of dog. They polarize people: some LOVE them - some HATE them! I thought it would be a great idea to talk to someone who would seem somewhat neutral and get some more info on the breed. Kenny Licklider has trained so many dogs to the highest level including those for the US Military. So, the question is: "Can pitbulls be used for military k9 work?" The surprising answer is in this video. Pitbulls can be really amazing dogs and when you hear the stories from Ken, you will agree. It takes a special person to own them, train them and live with…
AKC Obedience is a dog training skill like few others. For the most part it is women dominating the sport and everyone knows everyone. I have competed in AKC obedience all the way from Novice to Utility. The person that first introduced me to the sport many years ago was Flo Walberg. We have stayed friends over the years and I thought it would be great to get her on the show and talk about dog training and more. Flo has competed at the highest levels and WON at those levels. She has trained, competed and titled Border Collies as well as Rottweilers over the years. To watch Flo compete is…

We also talk about the important roles that working…
This discussion is sure to ruffle some feathers as Michael, Bart and I discuss everything that is going on in dog training, but everyone is afraid to talk about. This includes the radical shift in dog training language and methodologies and how that will affect dogs. The bans on training tools that are being attempted here in the USA and the ones that have taken place in many European countries and what that means for the future of dog training. We discuss the use of the ecollar and the stigma that surrounds it as well. As we see people trying to ban tools and dog sports, we should…
Dog Sports such as IGP / Schutzhund / IPO, Ring Sports and others are under attack. Whether you are interested in dog sports or not, this should concern you. These attacks come from people who know little about dogs and dog training. In this interview I speak to 2X World FMBB IGP Champion Florian Knabl and his wife Patricia Pehrsson about K9 and Sports, an organization that is uniting dog sports enthusiasts to help fight for the future of all dog sports. Here are some links to K9 and Sports: Website: https://k9-and-sports.com/support-k9-and-sports/ Facebook:…
Police dog stories always interest me, and hone you have access to a guy like Steve "Zane" Stoops there are no shortage. I often refer to Steve as my brother from another mother. He has more experience when it comes to police and military dogs than just about anyone out there. In this episode we talk about some great "Muzzle Stories." These are all real life instances where a muzzled police k9 has saved a life. Really great information that relates to police work and understanding the lifesaving work that police dogs do every day. If you want to learn more about Steve, check out these links:…
There are dogs and then there are police and military dogs. The most elite of all dogs are those that serve in the Special Operations Divisions of the US Military. These are the dogs we're discussing in this podcast. Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds and more. Ken Lichlider is known for training these dogs as well as deploying more working dogs during some recent US military operations than the US Military. Ken is the owner, operator and chief training instructor at Von Liche Kennels. You may recognize him from his show on Nat Geo Wild "Alpha Dogs." This conversation opens a lot of…
The Belgian Malinois in John Wick Part 3 Parabellum were among some of the most awesome dogs I've ever seen in a movie. The training, the obedience and the bite work was amazing. So where did these dogs come from? I found out in this conversation with Kenny Licklider of Vohne Liche Kennels. We sat down to a few chats and this one gives you an idea. We also discussed the Maliherd (Belgian Malinois x German Shepherd that he sold to the movie DOG with Channing Tatum. This podcast has three parts. 1. the John Wick Parabellum Belgian Malinois 2. the dog(s) from the movie Dog with Channing Tatum…
California Assembly Bill AB 742 would try to eradicate the use of police dogs, and that is a big problem for safety in our cities. Everyone can agree that crime is out of control in many cities and states - including here in California. I got the unique opportunity to interview California Senator Kelly Seyarto who has been quite vocal in his support of police and his opposition of this bill. Our chat will help you better understand how the laws are proposed and ultimately passed. Even if you're not in California, this is a great watch because these radical policies may come to your city one…
This discussion with Jamie Penrith goes deep into the topic of using aversive tools in order to save not only dogs' lives, but also the lives of other animals such as sheep, cattle and more. Are these tools really aversive? Is aversive training or training that causes discomfort to a dog to accomplish something important cruel? We dive deep into this conversations, take on science based lies and mis-information and so much more. The use of e-collars as a viable methodology of training is currently under great attack by a very small but vocal group - the truth of using electronic training…
Mike Reaver of Adlerhorst K9 has been involved in police dogs for most of his life. The son of Dave Reaver, founder of Adlerhorst K9 and the father of "police dogs." Mike and I finally got a chance to sit down and talk about police dogs, buying, training and selling them and most importantly the lives they save. Adlerhorst has placed thousands of police dogs, military k9 and personal protection dogs over the last 50+ years. We discuss the critical topic of CA Assembly Bill AB 742 - the bill that aims at eliminating police dogs as we know them. This is dangerous for police officers and deadly…
California Assembly Bill CA AB740 is being presented by California Assemblyman Corey Jackson. This bill aims at eliminating the use of police canines (k9s) in many situations including apprehending potentially dangerous suspects. He claims the bill will help right the wrongs of the past - a "carryover from a dark past." He uses inciteful language such as: "The use of police canines has inflicted brutal violence and lifelong trauma on Black Americans and communities of color," and more. This type of language will create knee-jerk reactions among policymakers and place many people, especially…
