Speaker 1:Life Audio. For more resources to help you in your walk with Christ, please visit us at BibleStudyHeadquarters.com. You're listening to the Chapter a Day Audio Bible. I'm John Stonge, and today we're in Isaiah chapter 18, and we'll be reading from the New American Standard Bible. Alas, O land of whirring wings, which lies beyond the rivers of Cush, which sends envoys by the sea, even in papyrus vessels on the surface of the waters. Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth, to a people feared far and wide, a powerful and oppressive nation, whose land the rivers divide. All you inhabitants of the world and dwellers on earth, as soon as a standard is raised on the mountains, you will see it. And as soon as the trumpet is blown, you will hear it. For thus the Lord has told me, I will look from my dwelling place quietly, like dazzling heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest. For before the harvest, as soon as the bud blossoms and the flower becomes a ripening grape, then he will cut off the sprigs with pruning knives and remove and cut away the spreading branches. They will be left together for
Speaker 1:mountain birds of prey and for the beasts of the earth, and the birds of prey will spend the summer feeding on them, and all the beasts of the earth will spend harvest time on them. At that time, a gift of homage will be brought to the Lord of hosts from a people tall and smooth, even from a people feared far and wide, a powerful and oppressive nation, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, even Mount Zion. Let's pray. Lord, we thank you for your word, and we thank you for the privilege of being able to look at it together today and read it together today and recognize that all Scripture is ultimately pointing our hearts to your Son, Jesus Christ. And Lord, in this portion of Scripture, we see a nation known for its fierceness bringing a gift of homage to you And we're reminded, Lord, that there will come a day when all the nations will bow in allegiance to your son, Jesus Christ. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is Lord.
Speaker 1:And we're grateful, Lord, for the privilege of being able to do that now. Lord, we're grateful for your love. We're grateful for your guidance. And we're grateful for the reminders that we find in your word that we need to put you first in our lives and that we need to honor you as our ultimate authority and God. Thank you, Lord, for your love. Thank you for your presence with us today. And we pray this all in Jesus' name. Amen.
