Character Spotlight -Kip

0:00Speaker 1:Hello, Welcome to the Heated Rivalry Podcast. I'm James Lock Jr. Here on janel J Media. This is our first character study and because I just because I just like him and the character we're doing Kip. He's the first character study we're doing for the season. It was we're waiting for season two. Now here is the problem. I mean, it's the problem because we don't know much about him, but the show doesn't really tell us much about his past that much. We know more about of course Ilia and Shane, but we don't really know that much about his past, and so I kind of am going by what we saw. What we saw was he was working at you know, smoothie shop. He has really good friends who are there for him. I like that his friends are very diverse. He seems like a we know, well rounded guy. He wasn't in sports that much. He had a really loving father. It seemed like he had a really great ship with his father. They lived together. I want about his dad. I just want to know how they got there and they were they were anyway. And then he meets this guys like it's like a fairy tale, and at first he just he goes along with it.

1:33Speaker 1:It's just you know. The thing about Kip was he was not he was He seemed like a regular, accessible gay guy of twenty twenty five. He wasn't over the top. He was underplayed. He the character was presented as a guy who wasn't worry about his gayness. It wasn't about he hadn't not to come in a closet. There was. It was already just like we're picking, we're kind of going in. It's already fine, good, don't worry about it. I like that a lot. He wasn't in the hockey.

2:17Speaker 1:Oh wow, that's not that's not anything too crazy. Uh. And he really let himself they didn't know. It was like a couple of episodes, but they didn't show him pushing pull. He was a good he flirted well, he was good, you know him and and and Scott felt hard for each other, fell in Joe And one of the things I like about him was though when it came to it, he tried to me sympathetic, empathetic to Scott's position because you always hope, because that's a it's a very range thing for to be in. If you're I know how this feels myself, if you're already a regular out gay man, and you meet somebody who just really rocks your world and you are and you just fall for them, and they're not fully out. Plus they're being in the public. Let's just take the public out of it. Just somebody who's not out. How do you yourself navigate that because you are so not used to you're not used to going back into a closet or back backwards in a space where you don't live. He lives in a space where he's out. His job is conducive of that. That gay bardie goes to his friends.

4:05Speaker 1:There's he doesn't have to be in the closet. So we're like, oh, okay, it's kind of a it's it's kind of this, it's it's it's kind of it's weird because you're already walking in step of in line of I'm a regular person. I'm about to do my thing. But now I have this guy who can't be out like I am. But I like him, and I don't I don't want to, you know, I don't. I don't want to, you know, uh, not be with him because I kind of understand where he's coming from, you know, I kind of I kind of get it. You know, it's it's it's and so and so hard because just like well I don't want to you know, But Kip stood up for himself, uh when you know, when it came time to he couldn't just be this person who could just sit you know, on the sidelines and you know and not and not be himself. And I love that when he when he when he when he took him out too to the gallery opening a thing, he really thought we could you know, I'll be I'll be careful with him. You know. All the time Kip was rey understanding. But when it came down to and thing and thing about Scott, he wasn't like super He wasn't rude about it or demanding or anything of of Kip.

6:08Speaker 1:He was just kind of like, maybe when I get out of this, you know, we have to wait till late. Like there's there's all this stuff going on, and you're like, but how can you just I mean it's almost like how can you accept that? And Jip stood up for himself was kind of like, I have to put myself first. I don't know if this is something that you know, he didn't say all so much. He was kind of just what he got, he said a little bit and he got and left that in one episode, it was like it showed Scott, this dude is pretty amazing first of all, but he has integrity and he has self respect and he's just like he just can't just not be himself, you know. And but I like the way they handled because even with Scott, Scott was so they didn't play him like some traditional you know, jerk who's in the closet. It's just like it was you could almost you could feel what do you want to go do a whole story on Scott another episode, but just you can just really forget he can feel it. You know, he still was supporting him, and they still showed up to the game. You though we didn't get the problems.

7:22Speaker 1:We didn't get much development in between. You know that it was left the way it was. He's at the game, sad. We don't know how he came to be and how that came to happen, for that big moment to happen, where that he to the world. Does that so I I I'm hearing all these different things. There might be a spin off series with them, or they might just have a bigger role in the second season. Either way, I do want more from them. I think now it would be interesting to explore. It would be interesting to it'll be interesting to explore. Now he's out, your ration is probably under a microscope. Are others going to hit on him because he's now openly gay and out there?

8:14Speaker 1:What does that mean? Right? So it's kind of like this should be if they do it right, this could be really a very interesting situation for them and see if their love kind of makes it through. But I'd like, I really do, and the actress have such a saying is Robbie GK at least the name is in real life. I just love their chemistry with Francoil, who plays Scott, it's just phenomenal. I mean, you can't it's lightning in a bottle. You can't just you can't always produce it, you can't always predict it. You just put people in a room together and it happens. And I just and I and I I'm amazed by it and it's just it's wonderful. So that's my kid thing. I wish this episode could be longer because we don't know more. But that's my big criticism. We don't know enough about Kip.

9:14Speaker 1:We know some stuff that's good. Where's his mother? Where's uh? Do you have any boyfriends before? And how were they? You know, you know, a little a little a little more character about he was just he was just really there for Scott while Scott he stay you know, while Scott was going traveling. And he's just very understanding you had to make money, you know. And we saw a bit of the catering world that he was saying. He was getting helpy, he was trying to do the catering stuff.

9:45Speaker 1:And now it was realistic, also very realistic. But we like Kip, We love him, like him, love him. Thanks so much for making the heated Rify after show my number one show my network right now. I mean it's the number one show my network right now. I am just I almost did do this and I almost didn't watch, and so I'm glad I was wrong. Morbus was coming. I'm James add Jr. Right
