Speaker 1:All right.

Speaker 2:It is Mojo in the morning.

Speaker 3:I want to bring this up because it happened to Lydia over the weekend. And I want to ask the listeners, where did you sleep? So Lydia went to a wedding over the weekend. And the picture of this is too priceless. She sent it to us earlier this morning. She went to a wedding and they Airbnb'd a house. And the house was supposed to be how many bedroom home, Lydia?

Speaker 4:It was seven bedrooms.

Speaker 2:Okay.

Speaker 3:So it was supposed to be a seven bedroom home and yours, how many people that were staying in this, this place?

Speaker 5:16.

Speaker 2:So 16 of you guys.

Speaker 3:And when it says seven bedrooms, 16 people, what did it say as far as how many people it would sleep?

Speaker 6:16.

Speaker 2:Okay. All right.

Speaker 3:So here is my question. Will you tell everybody and describe the picture that you took?

Speaker 2:Where did you sleep this weekend?

Speaker 1:So this past weekend for my friend's wedding, we all rented out an Airbnb. It was the whole bridal party because it was in Chicago. So we were all coming from out of town. And when I got there, I was one of the last to get there. And I was told that I was going to be sleeping in a closet. And when I mean a closet, I mean it's literally like just a tiny like walk-in closet with a bed there. And I had to share it with another bridesmaid.

Speaker 2:I mean, it is sharing that.

Speaker 5:Yes.

Speaker 2:I have a question.

Speaker 1:Did they put the bed in the closet or was that already there?

Speaker 4:No, it was already there.

Speaker 2:Here's the picture. That's insane.

Speaker 4:For them to count that as a bed.

Speaker 7:Everybody got there and then ran to grab their rooms and then they realized that.

Speaker 2:You didn't have one.

Speaker 1:Well, no, they were assigned by the bride.

Speaker 2:Oh, the bride. This is what the bride thought of you. Put you in the closet. Here's the thing.

Speaker 1:She was going to put me in the room that was attached to the closet. But that bridesmaid who had arrived before me also slept in a laundry room with me at the bachelorette. So she was like, I'm not sleeping in the closet again. And then when I got there, that said bridesmaid was like. Lydia, I'm so sorry. She's like, I didn't know you were going to be put into the closet as well.

Speaker 2:Could the guy just come out of the closet, please?

Speaker 4:All over again. I feel like you should have to pay less then.

Speaker 1:Well, I didn't pay anything.

Speaker 4:None of us paid.

Speaker 1:The bride and groom paid.

Speaker 2:The bride and groom took care of me. That was very nice.

Speaker 3:So you could have been outside or having to do like a hotel. Okay, so I want to ask this question. When you Airbnb, I will say this. I'm not an Airbnb-er. I've done it twice. It's the worst experience ever. People think that I'm crazy for this.

Speaker 4:See, I love it.

Speaker 3:I would much rather stay in a hotel where I know somebody's making my bed every single day and, you know, cleaning up.

Speaker 4:I love it in certain situations.

Speaker 3:I don't like the idea that I feel like 90% of the people that Airbnb will walk away from the Airbnb and go, eh, it wasn't as great as it was supposed to be. They don't walk away like the one or 5% of people who say, It was the greatest house ever. I would love to buy this house.

Speaker 2:You know, or whatever.

Speaker 8:Well, you've got to read the reviews, though, because I do think people are very, very picky and honest in reviews.

Speaker 7:I also feel like when I go get air, if I'm going out of town, I'm not trying to stay in the Airbnb.

Speaker 2:It's just a place to stay. Well, it depends.

Speaker 8:And sometimes you're with a big group, like was the case with Lydia. My family and I went to Hocking Hills a couple of years ago, and there were, I don't even know, 10 or 12 of us. So we couldn't, we weren't going to stay in a hotel. We wanted to like hang out at the Airbnb. So we had to get a big house, you know.

Speaker 3:But I, um, I would love to know where you slept in the Airbnb 844 Mojo live. And what was the description of the Airbnb and what was the actual Airbnb? Because there are so many people that will get an Airbnb in the description is Incredibly sanctuary.

Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah. Clean. On the pristine.

Speaker 6:Yeah.

Speaker 2:And then you go there, and basically, you're going to get mugged or killed.

Speaker 7:I've seen some where this guy, no lie, his old man lived in the, it was his house, but he was still staying in this crawl space area. He was still in the house, renting the house out.

Speaker 3:Do you ever hear the Airbnb story, my Charlevoix Airbnb story?

Speaker 5:Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:Oh, this house looked amazing on pictures. It was unbelievable. It was actually a nice place. It could have been nice. It would have been an amazing place to fix up. We go stay there and it's right on Lake Michigan. I mean, I'm telling you, it's wonderful. You walk down a walkway and you're down on Lake Michigan. This house was as creepy as hell. I guarantee you that this was a house that back in the day, there were people that were murdered or something. And the guy who we rented it from, We would come home after we were out all day, you know, on either the lake or we would go to restaurants or whatever, you know, the couple of restaurants in Charlevoix. We would come home and things were rearranged in the house. Like there was stuff that, you know, like we had sleeping bags for like the kids and things like that. And we had, you know, different like toys and stuff. He would rearrange everything.

Speaker 3:He would come into the house while we were gone and be going through our stuff.

Speaker 2:It was weird. Or the ghosts were.

Speaker 7:It was either them or somebody was messing with y'all, like one of the other... Yeah, it was one of the kids.

Speaker 3:Remember, it's a story I think I told you guys not that long ago, where I told you that my nephew threw up all over the bedding, and my sister had this.

Speaker 2:Yes, and got charged.

Speaker 3:She had to buy it from some store that was a really expensive store in Chicago, and the guy still charged us for the bedding.

Speaker 2:So I think he knew everything that was going on. He's watching. Patrice, what's going on? Hi, it's Mojo in the Morning.

Speaker 9:Hey, how you doing?

Speaker 2:So I.

Speaker 9:I went to Cancun a couple of months ago. Yeah, I did about a couple of months. And I stayed at Airbnbs before, and they were beautiful.

Speaker 4:They had everything.

Speaker 9:This had nothing, nothing. They had like sheets on the bed, no spread or nothing. The shower would squirt you in the face in the morning when you're taking a shower. So I called the guy complaining. He's like, I'm in another city right now.

Speaker 10:We'll be back for a couple of days.

Speaker 9:Never came back. The TV was in Spanish. I said, I don't know how to change it because it's in Spanish. And he was like, OK, you can change it. It's OK with us. I don't know how to do it because.

Speaker 6:It's in Spanish.

Speaker 5:It was just terrible.

Speaker 9:And then there was a gated community. So you had to have permission to get in the gate. You had to have something to scan. So when we called for Ubers or something, they would not let them in.

Speaker 2:Oh, what a pain.

Speaker 9:We had to walk to the gate with our luggage.

Speaker 11:It was terrible.

Speaker 2:That's brutal.

Speaker 9:I've never experienced an Airbnb like that.

Speaker 2:Would you ever do an Airbnb again there in Cancun or would you do a hotel all-inclusive?

Speaker 9:I think I would do a resort. I would definitely do a resort. But I've been to Cancun many times. This is just the first time.

Speaker 2:It was so cheap.

Speaker 9:It was like $ 5. 25 for a whole seven days.

Speaker 3:That's the indicator. When it's so cheap, when everybody says it's so cheap, there's a reason why it's so cheap. What's up, Travis?

Speaker 6:Morning, guys. How are you?

Speaker 2:Good morning. What's going on?

Speaker 6:So I stay every year at the same Airbnb in downtown Detroit off Woodward.

Speaker 9:And it says it sleeps six.

Speaker 5:It's only a one bedroom. Come on.

Speaker 2:So where are the six supposed to sleep?

Speaker 5:It has four air mattresses and two go in the closet and two go in the living room.

Speaker 2:See, they can't do that. Yeah, you cannot do that. No way.

Speaker 5:It's been five years, I think, running.

Speaker 10:We've run the same place every year.

Speaker 4:What do you rent it for?

Speaker 2:Why do you keep going back? Yeah.

Speaker 1:We do a guy's trip there every year.

Speaker 2:That's crazy. me and three of my best friends.

Speaker 4:Just because it's cheap now? Because you know it's air mattresses?

Speaker 6:Well, it's like two blocks from the Tin Can, the Tiger Stadium.

Speaker 4:I mean, everything's walking distance, casinos.

Speaker 2:So it's a prime location. It's just a bad setup for you.

Speaker 5:I don't have to sleep in the closet.

Speaker 8:I don't care.

Speaker 2:I rent a place. How's he getting away with this? What's happening, Stephanie? It's Mojo in the morning. Yeah, hi. Hey, good morning.

Speaker 11:How are you guys?

Speaker 5:First time, long time.

Speaker 2:We're doing even better now that you called. What's happening?

Speaker 5:Yeah, so I stayed in Muskegon.

Speaker 11:Over the summer.

Speaker 10:It was a nice Airbnb, but halfway through the night, the mattress in the bedroom would deflate.

Speaker 5:It was like a sleep number bed. And we would wake up like halfway through the night, and it would be like completely deflated.

Speaker 6:Yeah.

Speaker 2:Oh God. So it's bad.

Speaker 5:Yeah.

Speaker 3:Set up when it comes to that. I, I know people that will stay in Airbnbs and they bring their own bedding and everything like that to me.

Speaker 2:At that time.

Speaker 4:It's not vacation.

Speaker 3:Yeah.

Speaker 2:That's a lot of work.

Speaker 11:I know we thought we were getting like the good room and no halfway through the night.

Speaker 5:We're like, Ooh, a sleep number. And it would deflate halfway through the night.

Speaker 3:So sleep number bed would be kind of fun. Am I gaining weight?

Speaker 2:Oh my God.

Speaker 3:I want to, uh, I I've always wanted to go and stay up at torch lake. People say it's like the best lake in the world. Um, Mindy stayed in an Airbnb. I cannot wait to hear about this. What's going on, Mindy?

Speaker 10:We stayed at an Airbnb. Oh, first time, long time.

Speaker 2:Yeah, Mindy on the phone.

Speaker 10:So we got an Airbnb out at Torch Lake and I had a two-year-old at the time.

Speaker 5:They didn't disclose.

Speaker 10:That they were going to be staying in the basement, but they had this cat and this cat kept meowing and sticking its little paw underneath the door. And so my two-year-old was just fascinated and would not leave that door.

Speaker 5:He kept trying to get that.

Speaker 11:Little cat's paw the whole time we were there.

Speaker 4:Wait a second.

Speaker 8:So they were there in the basement while you guys were staying there too?

Speaker 2:The cat.

Speaker 4:And they did not disclose that?

Speaker 2:Do you know why the cat was in the basement?

Speaker 3:No way.

Speaker 10:Because the people were down there.

Speaker 5:The door was locked.

Speaker 11:We were shocked when we got there.

Speaker 2:So are you sure?

Speaker 3:Or do they leave the cat there because guess where there are cats?

Speaker 2:Where there are rats?

Speaker 11:Ew, don't say that. I didn't even think about that.

Speaker 10:And the house smells of litter.

Speaker 11:Thank God we were only there for two days.

Speaker 4:Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 3:I'm telling you, they probably weren't even down there in the basement. It was probably just the cats there to keep away the rats from getting up to you.

Speaker 5:Well, there was a car there.

Speaker 11:At one point when we came home.

Speaker 6:And then when we.

Speaker 10:Left again and came back, it was gone. So I do believe they were coming and going.

Speaker 11:Okay.

Speaker 5:All right.

Speaker 2:Well, that's good. What's up, Mackenzie? Mackenzie?

Speaker 9:Hey, I stayed in an Airbnb when I went to Washington, D.C.

Speaker 2:For a weekend, and it had an eviction notice on it.

Speaker 9:Oh, no.

Speaker 2:Oh, God. What? Did you guys still stay there, or what did you do? We did.

Speaker 4:I ended up looking at the note, and it was for, like, I don't know.

Speaker 2:A couple of weeks out and we had nowhere else to stay.

Speaker 10:So we ended up staying the weekend.

Speaker 6:And I think that.

Speaker 1:Was like their way of trying to get the money to avoid the eviction.

Speaker 10:It was like Airbnb apartment.

Speaker 6:But yeah, that was wild.

Speaker 3:I remember there was, who was it? Why am I brain farting on who it was? We went to Norm's party down in Spencer.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 3:Spencer, Spencer at Norm's party, Airbnb at a place in Atlanta. And it happened to be, The one street in Atlanta you do not go to because it is, they're all drug houses. So it's like, and he stayed with the guy.

Speaker 2:Remember that? Yeah.

Speaker 4:I remember seeing pictures of it. I, the guy was.

Speaker 2:Making meth in the other room and Spencer was staying in one room.

Speaker 3:And when Spencer was staying in the, in the place, he would come back at night and he said at nighttime, it was crazy during the day. It was a little bit better. But he said that the guy would be like, you're safe with me. He'd have like a gun and stuff.

Speaker 2:And he stayed. And he stayed because he paid for it. That's the craziest part. Amy, what's up?

Speaker 5:Hi, Mojo.

Speaker 11:First time, long time.

Speaker 5:I'm so excited to.

Speaker 6:Be getting through right now.

Speaker 2:I love it. What's going on?

Speaker 6:My daughter is going to be so excited. So last year, We were going to a wedding in North Dakota, and it was 105-degree weather, and the listing was for a beautiful, like, three-bedroom home, like, on a beautiful property with a creek around the property and, like, this beautiful bonfire pit. We get there, and they are home.

Speaker 11:They are.

Speaker 5:Staying in the house, it was a basement listing, first off. So we did not know it was a part of a three-bedroom home.

Speaker 6:It was a three-bedroom home, but it was in the basement.

Speaker 5:They did not have air conditioning, and.

Speaker 6:It was 105-degree weather that weekend.

Speaker 5:And they were home that weekend. They also had a camper on.

Speaker 6:The property that they would also occasionally rent out. And they did not disclose if there were people also staying in that property.

Speaker 3:So you didn't have use of that nice outdoor area, the fire pit area and all that stuff?

Speaker 5:Well, we, we, we didn't, we didn't end up staying there.

Speaker 6:There was no way. I mean, 105 degree weather, like we were not staying there. It was for a wedding weekend. Like there was no way. I'm so nervous right now.

Speaker 2:I'm sorry. No, that's okay.

Speaker 5:When I go back and play this.

Speaker 2:That's awesome. Is she at school right now?

Speaker 6:Yes, she is.

Speaker 11:I just got back from dropping all my kids off.

Speaker 4:So did you end up getting a hotel room? Is that what you did?

Speaker 5:Yes, we did. Which guess what? It was not any better.

Speaker 11:It had bugs and everything in it.

Speaker 5:But guess what?

Speaker 6:It had air conditioning and we did not have to stay. Yeah. Because also it was, you know, it only had one bathroom and it was like a living room space, but there was.

Speaker 5:Like a small.

Speaker 6:Kitchen area that only had like a microwave and like a like a fireplace stove top thing.

Speaker 2:How much did it cost? What did it cost him a night to stay?

Speaker 6:It was a lot of money.

Speaker 5:I don't remember.

Speaker 6:It was all through my husband and his two buddies that were riding with us.

Speaker 2:So it wasn't like it was a cheap deal?

Speaker 5:No, it was not.

Speaker 6:Because it was especially busy that weekend. I don't know, like, we don't know if there was some sort of, like, homecoming thing that weekend.

Speaker 5:It was a small town.

Speaker 6:It was Rapid City, North Dakota. But it was super busy when we were there that weekend.

Speaker 5:There was a lot of people we heard.

Speaker 6:But it was a very fun weekend.

Speaker 5:It was beautiful.

Speaker 4:I think Neil Diamond was in town.

Speaker 3:Despite that, honestly, it is wild that, gosh, you don't know by the pictures.

Speaker 2:You have no idea. That's their fault because she said it was a basement listing.

Speaker 5:Yeah.

Speaker 2:But you don't realize that you're going to have the family still there. Who books a basement? I don't know. Who stays in a closet? Lydia.

Speaker 4:Sometimes you don't know until you get there.

Speaker 1:I didn't want to make the bride feel bad, though. She already had a lot on her plate. I wasn't going to be like, yeah, get.

Speaker 2:Me out of the closet. Let me come out. Hold on. Lindsay, you clean Airbnbs?

Speaker 6:So I own my own cleaning business, and I cleaned for an Airbnb one time.

Speaker 2:That was enough for me.

Speaker 3:Here, stop for one second. There's something with your Bluetooth that's causing you to cut out. Take it off Bluetooth.

Speaker 1:Sounds like the service I.

Speaker 2:Had in the closet. Are you there?

Speaker 11:Yeah.

Speaker 2:It's bad still, I think.

Speaker 6:You there?

Speaker 2:Bye.

Speaker 1:Kevin, you would have liked her call.

Speaker 2:Lindsay? Can you tell us about it? Come on, Liz. Yeah, Lydia, go ahead.

Speaker 1:She said that an Airbnb host made her clean up after some tenants who came in and left man juice all over the bathroom.

Speaker 2:Where was it?

Speaker 9:All over what?

Speaker 2:The bathroom. How do you know it's man juice?

Speaker 3:You know.
