Speaker 1:Thanks for being here on your double classic Saturday. We appreciate it. We've got back-to-back for you. So a little bit longer so you can get your chores done or whatever you're doing, running your errands, doing your Saturday things. Oh, yeah. Well, you know what Eloise is doing in the comments? What? Eloise says, I'm currently locked out of my room trying to unlock it.

Speaker 2:Oh, no.

Speaker 1:I've basically given up, but I'm in a fight with my brother, so I have to guard the door and make sure he doesn't try to unlock it. I see. Thanks for keeping me company.

Speaker 3:Okay.

Speaker 1:There it is. Take that brother down, okay?

Speaker 3:Yay.

Speaker 1:Alexis knows. She's got two brothers.

Speaker 4:Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1:You've got to push that door tight.

Speaker 5:Hold it.

Speaker 6:Yeah.

Speaker 7:All right.

Speaker 1:Your classics start right now.

Speaker 8:Movies and TV shows love a good surprise cameo from a well-known character.

Speaker 1:Oh, yeah.

Speaker 4:And then the studio audience has to erupt.

Speaker 9:Totally.

Speaker 8:Like, you know how it works. Like, you see them, all the main characters. Maybe they're at a diner. One of them accidentally bumps another patron at the counter.

Speaker 2:Uh-oh.

Speaker 8:They turn around and... It's Chewbacca eating soup?

Speaker 7:No, I'm not going to do the impression.

Speaker 8:You are not going to sit there.

Speaker 10:Do it, Jose.

Speaker 5:Fine.

Speaker 10:And then he gets sick and throws up.

Speaker 8:It's hilarious. Guaranteed crowd pleaser. The studio audience loved it. And if it works that well on the big screen, why wouldn't that same idea work in real life? Because the dude on the phone today decided he wanted to surprise his date with an unexpected guest appearance during their dinner. And it was definitely a shock. I hope it was not Chewbacca. Not Chewbacca, but you will hear who it was in your second date update.

Speaker 2:Next.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 11:Second date update.

Speaker 8:We get a lot of people on this segment who tell us, I've heard you do these before. I never thought I'd actually be calling in for a second date update myself.

Speaker 1:It probably does feel like some sort of out-of-body experience. Yeah.

Speaker 8:But they'll admit, they'll say, like, I'm a huge fan and I've heard all the previous calls and Jeff, you're even more handsome than you sound on the radio.

Speaker 1:We don't get that comment.

Speaker 8:We get a lot of that stuff. But not today. Today's caller was very honest in his email, admitting he's not a fan. In fact, never really listened to our show before.

Speaker 1:Why are we letting him on then?

Speaker 8:Other people in his social circle, though, encouraged him to reach out for help with his dating life, so he thought he'd give it a try.

Speaker 12:Okay.

Speaker 8:His name is Chris.

Speaker 10:Chris.

Speaker 8:I don't know if you realize what you're getting yourself into here, man.

Speaker 1:See, I was just thinking, Jeff, his friends must be idiots.

Speaker 3:Yeah.

Speaker 1:Or setting them up as a big inside joke.

Speaker 8:Yeah. Do you have idiot friends, Chris?

Speaker 3:I don't think so.

Speaker 1:Okay, you really don't listen to the show. He didn't say no. This is going to be fun.

Speaker 8:Since you haven't heard how we do these, we'll just start off by asking, what's the name of the lucky lady that you're wanting us to call today?

Speaker 5:Bella.

Speaker 8:Ah, Bella. Bella.

Speaker 1:Okay.

Speaker 10:Beautiful.

Speaker 8:Yes, Italian. Beautiful. So, how did you meet Bella?

Speaker 3:Online, you know, dating apps.

Speaker 1:Sweet. Are you interested in Bella? Like, right now, maybe it's just because you're nervous.

Speaker 10:He's never heard the show.

Speaker 2:Yeah, sorry.

Speaker 1:Emotions are real low.

Speaker 3:Oh, no, she's really nice and pretty.

Speaker 10:Is he Rosie?

Speaker 2:Brooksie?

Speaker 9:Yeah, Brooks.

Speaker 8:Sometimes guys are more of, like, internal joy feelers rather than, like, showing all of their emotions on the outside and crying at every opportunity like some of us do.

Speaker 1:It's why I asked the question.

Speaker 8:That's good to ask. So tell us, what did you and Bella do for a date?

Speaker 5:Well, we went to this Mexican restaurant.

Speaker 12:Okay.

Speaker 5:Nice.

Speaker 1:And what was the moment like when you first saw each other in person?

Speaker 5:Um.

Speaker 3:Hold on one second.

Speaker 1:Okay.

Speaker 8:Hold on.

Speaker 6:He's busy.

Speaker 1:What?

Speaker 10:Do we air this part? Are you there?

Speaker 1:Chris?

Speaker 3:It was very sweet.

Speaker 8:It was sweet? Very sweet? To see her in person?

Speaker 1:Are we interrupting something right now?

Speaker 3:Yeah. No, you have my full attention.

Speaker 8:You did ask us to just wait for a second while you did something. Let's keep going. Tell us about how dinner went at the Mexican place.

Speaker 1:Like the connection.

Speaker 8:Or if that's what you did. Like, we just want to learn more about your date, man.

Speaker 3:What do you mean that's what I did?

Speaker 5:No, no, no.

Speaker 8:I'm saying, did you eat?

Speaker 10:Do we have to ask more questions? Can we just call it?

Speaker 1:Pretend like you're talking to your friends and they're wanting a recap of your night.

Speaker 4:Yeah.

Speaker 1:What did you tell them? What were the highlights? Tacos.

Speaker 10:We kissed. We went on a walk.

Speaker 3:I had a cheese quesadilla.

Speaker 2:No.

Speaker 5:Oh, okay.

Speaker 1:Did you order from a kid's menu?

Speaker 3:No, it was a full-size one.

Speaker 1:Okay, good. Nice.

Speaker 8:What did you two talk about?

Speaker 2:We talked about, you know, like, pop culture and, like, news and, like, our interests and her interests.

Speaker 1:Okay, so you're big into pop culture. I was kidding.

Speaker 3:No.

Speaker 8:Oh. No, but the topic did come up, and I had to suffer through that for a little bit, so.

Speaker 10:Did you feel like it was a natural flow of convo?

Speaker 2:Hold on.

Speaker 3:What?

Speaker 10:Did you say hold on again?

Speaker 3:I think so.

Speaker 8:Hey, Chris, who are you talking to?

Speaker 5:It was pretty good.

Speaker 8:Sorry, man. Who are you talking to in between this?

Speaker 5:Oh, my mom's here with me.

Speaker 8:Oh.

Speaker 10:Oh. We said hi.

Speaker 2:Hi, mom.

Speaker 8:Why are you talking to your mom in the middle of this?

Speaker 3:Well, she is a big fan of the show.

Speaker 1:Oh, she is.

Speaker 8:Oh, that's awesome.

Speaker 3:Yeah, she sent the email for me.

Speaker 1:Oh, she did it for you.

Speaker 8:What a nice thing.

Speaker 1:I like when my mom does my stuff for me, too.

Speaker 8:That's good.

Speaker 2:My appointments.

Speaker 8:Okay, I've now forgotten what we were asking.

Speaker 10:Well, can we get to how it ended? Was there any romance, like a kiss or a hug?

Speaker 8:Just any big moment that stood out to you. There you go.

Speaker 5:Yeah, when I went to the bathroom and came back, they were chatting it up like crazy.

Speaker 3:They really hit it off.

Speaker 1:Wait, who's they, Chris?

Speaker 5:Bella and my mom.

Speaker 10:Your mom was on the date?

Speaker 5:Yeah, my mom was on the date with us.

Speaker 8:Oh, no.

Speaker 1:Did you tell Bella before you showed up to the restaurant that your mom was coming along?

Speaker 2:No.

Speaker 3:Chris.

Speaker 1:Problem solved. Chris, this is absolutely the reason that Bella isn't calling you back.

Speaker 3:You think so? Yes.

Speaker 4:Yes.

Speaker 1:No one wants to date somebody's mom.

Speaker 8:Chris, what's the reason that you brought your mom along with you on the date?

Speaker 3:To keep me safe from any bad women.

Speaker 12:Oh.

Speaker 1:Bad women.

Speaker 10:She pulls a knife on you, mom's right there.

Speaker 8:That's true. Don't want to be taken advantage of either on a date by a woman.

Speaker 10:But still, can you paint that picture? Like, what is she going to do in the middle of the day?

Speaker 8:Just be like, I don't like her.

Speaker 3:My mom does like Bella.

Speaker 5:Okay.

Speaker 1:So good.

Speaker 5:She says that she doesn't dress sleazily.

Speaker 3:Oh.

Speaker 8:That's good.

Speaker 5:Wow.

Speaker 8:Sounds like it's a rare thing for the women that you date.

Speaker 1:Tell your mom she shouldn't comment on women's clothes.

Speaker 8:Yeah. She thinks she says he's dressed really nicely.

Speaker 1:That's not what she said.

Speaker 8:He could have interpreted it differently. Let's give him a little bit of grace here. His mom is standing over his shoulder while he's talking to a nationally syndicated show. So a lot of nerves here, a lot of pressure.

Speaker 1:Chris, does your mom come along with everything for you? Like if someone is to date you, is it always a package deal?

Speaker 3:I mean, yeah, unless she says otherwise.

Speaker 1:Unless who says otherwise?

Speaker 3:My mom.

Speaker 5:Okay.

Speaker 8:Are we allowed to ask how old you are?

Speaker 10:I think we know you're an adult, right?

Speaker 3:I'm 32.

Speaker 12:32?

Speaker 10:Nice.

Speaker 1:This is going to be a little complicated.

Speaker 8:Maybe let's just fast forward to calling Bella here.

Speaker 1:Oh, I think we're going to be so surprised on her answer of why she's not calling back.

Speaker 8:I think we will. Mom is probably going to be the most surprised of anybody.

Speaker 1:Oh, it's going to be shocking.

Speaker 8:So make sure you put it on speaker when we dial up Bella and try and get you your very first radio experience on Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Don't get too excited. This is a big deal, dude.

Speaker 3:My mom's like super pumped.

Speaker 8:Okay. So are we. We're going to do it right after this. Hold on.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 11:Second date update.

Speaker 8:If you're just joining us, this is pretty exciting.

Speaker 3:Okay.

Speaker 8:Because in a way, we're doing our very first three-way second date update.

Speaker 10:Why do you say it like that?

Speaker 8:The three people being our caller, Chris, two, his date, Bella, and the third... is chris's mom.

Speaker 1:Oh no you cannot say chris's mom with sexy music in the background it's not right.

Speaker 8:You're reading this as sexy music okay that's your own brain interpreting it but chris's mom not only tagged along on their dinner date but is actually with chris right now next to him quietly listening yeah and sometimes answering questions for him when chris can't remember But it is nice. It's nice to have a wing woman there able to do ride or die with you, be your support system.

Speaker 4:What was her reaction?

Speaker 1:We never asked when she got to the table and your mom's sitting there.

Speaker 5:I think she was fine with it.

Speaker 1:We'll ask her the same question.

Speaker 8:Clearly Chris and his mother don't believe that's the reason why. So Chris, what's your mom's guess for why Bella's acting a fool right now?

Speaker 3:I don't know.

Speaker 10:Hold on. Is he, like, sitting on her lap?

Speaker 3:Hold on, guys.

Speaker 5:She's writing something.

Speaker 8:She's writing the answers? Can you tell her to write a little bit faster? Because we are on a time limit for this segment.

Speaker 3:Just give her a minute.

Speaker 5:So, we are cat people, and she might be more of a dog person.

Speaker 8:That could be a thing.

Speaker 1:The good news is we're about to find out.

Speaker 8:Yeah. Well, hopefully. Because that's if she picks up the phone. Because we're going to dial her number right now. I'm praying that Bella has really good news for us. This is all a misunderstanding, and she cannot wait to hang out with you and your mom again.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 3:Chris? Chris?

Speaker 5:What?

Speaker 10:He was talking to his mom.

Speaker 8:His mom was combing his hair. Just call Bella, Jeff. Okay, here we go. I'm going to dial her right now. Let's see if she picks up.

Speaker 2:Hello?

Speaker 8:Hey, is this Bella?

Speaker 3:Yes.

Speaker 12:Who's speaking?

Speaker 8:Hey, you're speaking to a whole morning show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.

Speaker 4:Hey, Bella.

Speaker 10:Hey, good morning.

Speaker 8:You're on the radio right now.

Speaker 2:Hi.

Speaker 8:Good morning, beautiful.

Speaker 10:I always say it because it's your name. Get it, Bella?

Speaker 8:So the reason that we're reaching out to you, Bella, is we're doing a segment. It's called a Second Date Update. I don't know if you're familiar with that.

Speaker 10:Oh, no.

Speaker 5:Oh, dear.

Speaker 12:Oh, no.

Speaker 8:Don't be afraid. It's a good thing because a guy named Chris has reached out to our show asking us if we could get a hold of you.

Speaker 3:Oh.

Speaker 12:Oh, of course he did.

Speaker 5:Mm-hmm.

Speaker 10:What do you mean, of course?

Speaker 1:Do you mean because he's getting help?

Speaker 12:It just makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 8:Yeah. I mean, it definitely, when we heard from Chris, it sounded like you two went on a very unique date.

Speaker 12:Yes, that's a nice way to put it. For the record, both him and his mom have been texting me.

Speaker 10:Oh, man.

Speaker 1:Group chatter.

Speaker 8:We did hear that the mom was there.

Speaker 1:I would love to hear your description of showing up to the Mexican restaurant.

Speaker 12:So it started off with just me and him at a table.

Speaker 1:Oh, it did start with just you and him. His mom wasn't there immediately?

Speaker 12:Well, she kept coming up to the table. I thought she was like a server or like a... busser or someone because she kept coming up and like checking in on us and then like the third time she just sat down with us.

Speaker 1:That is so strange like I just I don't know I just thought that he was more up front with the whole thing I know he didn't tell you before the date.

Speaker 12:But my read on it is that he was A little bit awkward, somewhat nervous, and just genuinely wasn't sure how to introduce her.

Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, maybe he's a person who needs help in social situations.

Speaker 10:Yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 8:And it's nice of you to give him grace in that scenario. So once you found out that it was his mom and she was going to be joining you for the date, how did the rest.

Speaker 2:Of it go?

Speaker 12:He was pretty quiet the whole time, and... His mom filled in the spaces and answered for him when I would ask questions.

Speaker 5:Oh, wow.

Speaker 12:I mean, don't get me wrong. She's a lovely, lovely woman, truly, but maybe a little overprotective.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 1:So do you think, I mean, do you think it would have been better if she would have just stayed pretending to be a server and let him just date?

Speaker 12:She shouldn't have been there, in my opinion.

Speaker 6:You know, he's 32, and.

Speaker 12:I think it's time that he sits through a date by himself. And I think he's nice, but it was just too awkward.

Speaker 8:I could see what you're saying there, but have you ever considered that maybe Chris is such an amazing guy that his mom is being protective because she wants the best possible match for him?

Speaker 1:Jeff is saying this because he has a mom a lot like Chris's mom.

Speaker 8:Some of our mothers love us. I can't believe that's used as something that people hold against. My mom thinks I'm amazing.

Speaker 1:To Jeff's mom would love to go on dates with him but I'm.

Speaker 8:Not talking about Jeff's mom I'm talking about Chris's mom and actually Chris himself who is on the other line right now listening to this conversation.

Speaker 12:Oh my god hi why are you doing this.

Speaker 3:It was um my mom's idea she does listen to our show so I didn't.

Speaker 12:Realize you were uncomfortable I'm sorry None more uncomfortable than right now.

Speaker 8:Yeah.

Speaker 5:If it makes you feel better, my mom is very picky and she approves of you.

Speaker 1:Oh, that's not going to help.

Speaker 8:It's kind of a nice compliment to give to you.

Speaker 12:Well, thank you for that, but I would really prefer to know what you think and not what your mom thinks.

Speaker 1:That is so well said. I mean, are you hearing her on that, Chris?

Speaker 8:This is a good opportunity, Chris, to speak from the heart.

Speaker 1:Yeah.

Speaker 2:I agree with my mom.

Speaker 3:Okay.

Speaker 8:Oh, okay. They're on the same page. They both think that you're a really cool person, Bella.

Speaker 12:Chris, can I just ask you, what was up with the whole server bet with your mom?

Speaker 10:Yeah.

Speaker 3:Yeah, well, we do that every time.

Speaker 5:We don't want to, like, we want it to be like a surprise.

Speaker 4:Every time.

Speaker 8:Oh, you do this a lot with your mom?

Speaker 5:Oh, like, not a lot, but the few dates that I do get.

Speaker 12:Chris, you're saying that you've done this with other ladies before?

Speaker 2:Yeah. Do they stay for the date?

Speaker 12:Or have they left? What has happened in the past?

Speaker 5:Well, one of them wanted to get married, but she was way too overbearing, so we had to let her go.

Speaker 8:Oh, really?

Speaker 1:Wait, you had a proposal?

Speaker 3:No.

Speaker 5:Well, yeah, she didn't live in this country and a lot of it was on video.

Speaker 3:Oh, wow.

Speaker 8:She was really eager to get over here and tie the knot with you.

Speaker 1:Chris and Chris's mom don't fall for that.

Speaker 11:Yeah.

Speaker 8:Sounded like a romantic story.

Speaker 3:No, we learned our lesson.

Speaker 1:Okay, that's good. There we go. That's good.

Speaker 8:So now he's moved on. He's put all those other women that want him aside because right now you're in the spotlight. It should be kind of flattering.

Speaker 12:Yeah, I'm flattered and a little... I feel very awkward.

Speaker 8:Yeah.

Speaker 12:I feel like I'm dating you and your mom and not just you.

Speaker 8:Okay.

Speaker 10:Would it be better if you brought your mom on a date or your dad on a date? Or maybe.

Speaker 1:Is anyone.

Speaker 8:Hearing what Bella needs? Yes, but I think what Bella is trying to suggest, it sounds like, Chris, is maybe the two of you go on a one-on-one date and you leave your mom at home for this one.

Speaker 1:What?

Speaker 12:That is definitely not what I'm suggesting.

Speaker 3:Oh, okay.

Speaker 8:Well, then I misread it. I'm not sure what you're suggesting.

Speaker 12:I'm suggesting that for Chris, you should do more of those.

Speaker 1:Maybe, Chris, if you don't feel safe on a date, I think that's valid. Maybe your mom can wait in the car or in the parking lot. Like, just not come inside the restaurant.

Speaker 5:Oh, yeah, that's a good idea.

Speaker 12:Okay, that's kind of nice.

Speaker 10:No, get mom a black security shirt. You can buy them on Amazon.

Speaker 5:Stop. Stop.

Speaker 3:My mom laughed at that. She liked how I felt.

Speaker 8:Oh, nice work, Jose.

Speaker 2:Thanks.

Speaker 8:Bye, Mom.

Speaker 2:Okay.

Speaker 1:All right. Sounds like.

Speaker 8:So this may be completely fruitless, but I do have to ask Bella, would you be willing to go out on another date with just Chris and we would pay for it?

Speaker 10:No, Mom.

Speaker 8:Maybe just even as friends.

Speaker 1:Oh.

Speaker 8:Get to know each other a little more, like the real Chris.

Speaker 12:No, thank you.

Speaker 6:Keep in mind, his.

Speaker 8:Mom is listening to this entire conversation. So what you say, his mom is hearing.

Speaker 1:She's well aware.

Speaker 12:Well, I'll say to both of them that since we both have history with each other, I just think that that would cloud this next interaction.

Speaker 5:My mom is in a fan of your response.

Speaker 3:Oh, wow.

Speaker 8:Bella, you got on Chris's mom's bad side now.

Speaker 10:Not good.

Speaker 8:You better expect some angry texts from her later on after this is over.

Speaker 12:I'll be ready for them.

Speaker 1:I was just going to suggest maybe blocking that number.

Speaker 8:Good idea. Man, I appreciate you taking a chance, reaching out to our show, even if your mom did it for you and being on with us, giving it a shot. That was really brave. It was a big first step for you.

Speaker 1:Yeah, maybe next step is you have dinner with a woman without your mom there.

Speaker 8:Maybe you can bring Brooke along with you on the date and show Wingman for you.

Speaker 3:Oh, yeah. Do you want to come?

Speaker 1:No.

Speaker 3:That'd be cool.

Speaker 10:No, I'm good.

Speaker 1:His mom would not like Brooke.

Speaker 9:Yeah.

Speaker 8:Not a fan.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 8:You know, it's funny. A lot of us are laughing or even cringing at the idea of having your mom join you on a first date.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 10:But I don't know.

Speaker 8:I could definitely see Brooke sitting down with her son Alder on his very first date.

Speaker 10:Oh, my God.

Speaker 8:And then immediately admonish the girl for not dressing sleazily enough. Enough, yeah. My son deserves to see skin, missy. Look at him and his sad little eyes.

Speaker 10:I don't see any cleavage on you, young lady.

Speaker 8:Mama, I'm not seeing enough cleavage on you. Oh, there, there, sweetie. Let me hug you tightly into mine.

Speaker 10:Oh, wow.

Speaker 1:Brooke, you're a good mom. There is a running joke in my house that if I have to keep cutting their steak and stuff up for them, then I'm going to have to accompany them on a date. So they better figure it out soon.

Speaker 10:So you're going to be teaching his date how to cook steak for him.

Speaker 1:No, cut it up.

Speaker 10:Cut it, yeah.

Speaker 8:For him. So look out, Brooke. Judge not lest you be judged in life. Six to seven. No, how old?

Speaker 1:A long time.

Speaker 8:A long time?

Speaker 5:Yeah.

Speaker 8:I bet he's going to be an early bloomer. 40 years.

Speaker 2:Wow.

Speaker 1:Well, we'll see. He's healthy.

Speaker 8:That's a lot of time for people to go online and check out all of our second date updates wherever you get your podcasts. They're up at Brooke and Jeffrey.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 8:At this point, I'm used to getting blamed for other people's problems.

Speaker 3:Oh.

Speaker 6:You are?

Speaker 8:Like, Jeff, it's your fault our show is number one right now.

Speaker 10:Oh, you must feel so bad.

Speaker 8:Dude, Jeff, you made me laugh so hard I wet myself in my Tesla.

Speaker 1:Oh, but you did. Not the Tesla.

Speaker 8:Jeff, you're so handsome. I only think of you when I make love to my wife.

Speaker 10:What?

Speaker 1:Oh, wow.

Speaker 8:Sorry, Dad, but you're making this Father's Day phone call really awkward now.

Speaker 10:I know it.

Speaker 8:And I'm gonna be honest, I don't feel bad about it.

Speaker 11:Don't feel any remorse.

Speaker 8:But I do think everyone in this room owes the guy on the phone an apology today. Because he says he got inspiration for a first date. Just from listening to this show. And it backfired on him in the worst way possible. It's all my fault again. You're going to hear what happened in your second date update next.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 11:Second date update.

Speaker 8:One thing that we've learned doing thousands of these phone calls is trying harder on a date doesn't guarantee you're going to get good results.

Speaker 1:No. Sometimes guarantees you'll get bad.

Speaker 12:Yeah.

Speaker 2:That's right.

Speaker 3:Unfortunately.

Speaker 8:Sometimes trying is the key to failing.

Speaker 5:Yeah.

Speaker 8:And that's what one of our listeners, Jimmy, said happened the other night. He tried, and now he regrets ever doing that. Jimmy, welcome to Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning where dreams go to die.

Speaker 1:How are you doing today? Say it again, Jeff.

Speaker 8:We're putting it on our website. Jimmy, welcome, man.

Speaker 2:Thanks, thanks. Hopefully my dream doesn't die here. Give me a shot.

Speaker 1:I have faith in you, brother. Yeah, I want to hear about your trying, Jimmy. Sounds like you went in with hopeful attitude on this date.

Speaker 8:Who did you try for? What's her name?

Speaker 2:Her name's Erica. She's really nice.

Speaker 3:She's super cute.

Speaker 1:What about her made you want to try?

Speaker 2:Uh, we just, we just, a lot of the things we were looking for happened to, to line up. I mean, obviously for me, it starts number one, like, am I attracted to you or not?

Speaker 8:So there was that.

Speaker 2:And then all this stuff just happened to match up.

Speaker 8:You want to be attracted to the people that you date? Weird.

Speaker 2:I know. I know.

Speaker 5:It's crazy.

Speaker 1:Okay.

Speaker 8:If that's the strategy you want to go with, good luck.

Speaker 3:Wow.

Speaker 1:So shallow.

Speaker 8:Oh, that's good.

Speaker 3:Okay.

Speaker 8:So what you said you tried, what does that mean? What did you do that was above and beyond?

Speaker 2:So I kind of blame you guys. I listen to you guys and I hear all these stories about people trying something different. Like, oh, we didn't just go to dinner and a movie. We did this weird thing. Do you ever.

Speaker 1:Listen to the end of those?

Speaker 8:It probably turns us off after two minutes like most people.

Speaker 1:He's like, that sounds like a great idea.

Speaker 8:Do you realize why they're calling us?

Speaker 1:So what was your big creative idea for a date?

Speaker 2:Okay, so first off, we met at a food truck. And I was like, I got a surprise for you. So we walked a few blocks to a psychic.

Speaker 3:Oh. Oh.

Speaker 1:Did you know if she, I mean, some people have some real strong opinions about this type of stuff.

Speaker 3:Yeah, I guess so. I don't know.

Speaker 2:I just thought it would be a fun thing. My friends had gone to them, and they had a good time.

Speaker 8:Okay.

Speaker 1:I always want to walk in when I see those. I think that they're more expensive than I want to pay, though.

Speaker 4:But on a date, if he's paying, I'd go.

Speaker 8:What did the fortune teller do? Did they look in like a crystal ball, or did they open up like a fortune cookie and read it to you?

Speaker 1:No, no.

Speaker 2:It was a tarot card thing.

Speaker 5:It was a tarot card reading.

Speaker 1:Okay.

Speaker 2:Like a lot of my lady friends are really into that too.

Speaker 8:So I thought maybe.

Speaker 1:It might be. So what was her attitude when you told her about the surprise?

Speaker 2:She was like, she was surprised. She was smiling and thought it was going to be fun, I thought. So I had no reason to be concerned.

Speaker 8:You say that it didn't work out for you. What happened?

Speaker 1:Right.

Speaker 2:Well, okay. So they, you know, reading the future and like the big takeaway at the end was that Erica and I were going to be a really, really, really bad match.

Speaker 1:Did Erica, what did she say?

Speaker 2:She left.

Speaker 6:She left?

Speaker 8:She just agreed with the psychic?

Speaker 1:It's hard not to believe that was like a little. Like, I feel like. I mean, you know, sometimes those people also like sense something else that's going on.

Speaker 10:Are you allowed to ask why? Like, are you allowed to say why? Why aren't we a good match?

Speaker 1:Sounds good to me.

Speaker 2:I wasn't particularly interested in like her.

Speaker 8:Did you offer to fight them?

Speaker 2:No.

Speaker 10:I'm a great guy.

Speaker 8:I will beat you up right now. We're not a perfect match.

Speaker 4:So wait, Erica just like dashed out.

Speaker 2:No, no, no. She's not like, I'm leaving. And she was like laughing and it was awkward. And she's like, I got to go outside.

Speaker 6:And I was like.

Speaker 2:Okay, but I'm going to stay in here. Cause I gotta like, I'm just going to try to get my money back. Right.

Speaker 1:Oh, is that what you did?

Speaker 10:Now it looks cheap.

Speaker 1:It's a tarot card reading, not a wingman situation.

Speaker 2:You know, I'm there on a date. Like we're there to have a good time. And then like, you're going to give me that. Like, you might as well say like, oh no, you better go home right now. Your dog's going to die.

Speaker 4:Well, it's what the card says.

Speaker 1:Yeah. Like, you needed to get the dishonest psychic down the road. You're just too good.

Speaker 10:How much do I got to pay you to tell this girl to sleep with me?

Speaker 11:Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2:It's like you guys said. I was like, what is this? She was like, sorry, the cards don't lie. And I'm like, maybe you could make them lie for this.

Speaker 10:I mean, most people don't know tarot cards.

Speaker 7:You could tell me anything and be like, oh, this is the Joker, but it's upside down.

Speaker 8:This is the 13th moon of Geneva. I don't know what that means.

Speaker 1:It sounds like Erica was laughing. It doesn't sound like she was actually upset.

Speaker 8:It sounds like she stormed out of the building.

Speaker 4:He said she was laughing.

Speaker 1:She said, I'll meet you outside.

Speaker 8:Did you meet up with her after that?

Speaker 2:Yeah, she actually came back in to get me out of there.

Speaker 9:Oh, so she was not happy.

Speaker 1:Oh, wait, so you were arguing with a psychic over money, and then Erica had to come back in and pull you out?

Speaker 5:Yeah.

Speaker 4:Why are we worried about the card?

Speaker 10:That is way worse.

Speaker 4:See, see, this is what I'm saying.

Speaker 10:This guy is not cool.

Speaker 4:Yeah, I think that's your bad look.

Speaker 7:And again, bad look doesn't mean you're a bad person, doesn't mean you don't match, but I can see why that image isn't good.

Speaker 8:So how did this date end?

Speaker 2:I mean, we had a drink, but it was super awkward, and then that was it, and it was over.

Speaker 1:You don't want to stick with the cards and just let this lie?

Speaker 2:No, no, I would love a second chance. I would love that.

Speaker 8:Okay.

Speaker 10:Do you have any tarot cards? Should we make this a tarot card reading? Do you have any training in this?

Speaker 8:No, I just have some crystal balls that you got to rub.

Speaker 10:Oh, wait, no, those are different.

Speaker 1:Why are they crystal?

Speaker 8:Why do you have two of them? You can start rubbing them now before we call Erica for you.

Speaker 10:Let's just do the normal way. I'm sorry I asked.

Speaker 2:Yeah, please don't rub the crystal balls.

Speaker 8:We'll do it the old-fashioned. Give her a call, see what she has to say. There you go.

Speaker 1:Oh, I predict it's going to turn out great.

Speaker 10:Yeah.

Speaker 3:Look at that.

Speaker 8:That's our psychic prediction.

Speaker 10:Positive energy.

Speaker 8:We're going to come back and do it with your second date update right after this.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 11:Second date update.

Speaker 8:You've probably been out on a first date where a total stranger comes up and just randomly says, you two make such a cute couple.

Speaker 12:Aw.

Speaker 7:Yeah.

Speaker 1:That is such a nice moment.

Speaker 5:Yeah. Aw.

Speaker 8:That happens sometimes, but probably not a lot of daters have experienced somebody saying, wow, you two look like a terrible match.

Speaker 1:Even if a lot of people are thinking about it. Nobody actually says it.

Speaker 10:You're with them?

Speaker 8:I know Brooke's uncle said that to her once about her cousin because they looked too similar.

Speaker 1:You're so dumb. I did not date my cousin.

Speaker 8:Because your uncle wouldn't allow it.

Speaker 11:Yeah.

Speaker 8:And that was smart of him. But most of the time, you don't get the kiss of death via tarot card on the first date.

Speaker 1:Oh, man.

Speaker 8:Unfortunately, that's what happened with one of our listeners, Jimmy, where the psychic literally looked at the cards and said, ooh, this relationship is doomed.

Speaker 1:Oh, man. I mean, it is a bad tone for the rest of the night.

Speaker 8:Yeah. But we're coming in with a slightly more optimistic attitude when we call Erica for him here. Jimmy, how are you feeling right now?

Speaker 2:I'm feeling all right. Let's see, hopefully.

Speaker 8:Okay.

Speaker 1:Oh, man. You need to be more like.

Speaker 12:I don't know.

Speaker 2:I believe in my case.

Speaker 1:There we go. You need to be more confident going into this.

Speaker 7:And Jeff was rubbing his crystal balls for you very extensively in between the break.

Speaker 10:He said it was going to help you.

Speaker 1:Yeah, what did you see in those?

Speaker 8:The outlook is good.

Speaker 1:Yeah.

Speaker 8:It's very good, Jimmy.

Speaker 1:See?

Speaker 10:All positive vibes, brother.

Speaker 2:Something tells me that's not going to help.

Speaker 8:Oh, it helps. Trust me. But let's just call and see if that helps too, all right? We're going to call Erica. Let's do it.

Speaker 5:Hello?

Speaker 8:Hey, we're looking for Erica.

Speaker 6:This is her.

Speaker 8:Hey, Erica. We're a morning radio show. called Brooke and Jeffrey, and that means you're on the radio right now.

Speaker 1:Hey, Erica.

Speaker 5:Hey.

Speaker 8:I'm Jeffrey, by the way.

Speaker 6:Oh, hi, everybody.

Speaker 1:Hi.

Speaker 2:Okay.

Speaker 1:Congratulations. Big feature spot on our show today.

Speaker 6:Is that what we're calling it?

Speaker 1:I don't know.

Speaker 8:Maybe congratulations isn't quite the right word.

Speaker 2:It could be.

Speaker 8:But it might be.

Speaker 1:Yeah.

Speaker 8:If it turns out you are still interested in the guy you went out with the other night named Jimmy.

Speaker 2:What?

Speaker 6:I thought this was a prize giveaway.

Speaker 1:Well, it is.

Speaker 8:And Jimmy is your prize.

Speaker 1:Yeah, nice one, Jeff. It's like a little teddy bear at the bottom of a claw machine.

Speaker 10:Get him.

Speaker 6:Okay, well, I'm going to exchange that prize for something else.

Speaker 8:Oh, wow.

Speaker 10:For like what, like a keychain?

Speaker 8:Yikes. I don't know if we can do that. Why do you say that, though? I mean, we know you're not calling Jimmy back after your date. We're trying to help him figure out why.

Speaker 6:Okay, so this is, oh my gosh, it was so crazy. I don't know what Jimmy told you guys.

Speaker 1:We'd love to hear your version of the night.

Speaker 12:It was horrific.

Speaker 6:Okay, so let me rewind.

Speaker 8:Yes, please.

Speaker 6:We went to a psychic to read our future.

Speaker 3:Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1:What did you think when he, because he said that he surprised you with that. tarot card reading? What was your initial thought on that?

Speaker 6:I thought it was weird and strange. I was like, why are we going to be a psychic?

Speaker 9:But.

Speaker 6:I was trying to be optimistic. So I was like, well, let me go with the flow.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 8:I think that was his whole goal is he was just trying to do something new.

Speaker 12:Unique.

Speaker 8:It wasn't something that he necessarily like believes like wholeheartedly in his soul.

Speaker 10:It's just like one of those fun things.

Speaker 1:But it's a risky activity to pick.

Speaker 3:True.

Speaker 1:Because. Now we know that.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 1:And it doesn't sound like it was something you were super comfortable with. Right.

Speaker 6:And it's crazy you said it was risky because when we got there, like she was reading the cards and. all of a sudden this one card came out and it was called like the three of wands, the swords, three of swords.

Speaker 1:Three of swords?

Speaker 6:Yes, like three daggers through you or something like that.

Speaker 1:Is that good or bad?

Speaker 8:Three swords sounds good to me.

Speaker 6:It was horrible.

Speaker 8:It was horrible?

Speaker 6:It was actually horrible. It meant like something about betrayal and heartbroken.

Speaker 1:Yikes. Oh, is that when the tarot card reader told you guys that you shouldn't be together?

Speaker 6:Yeah, she actually said... we were going to be like really bad for each other.

Speaker 8:But do you feel like maybe she was just a little bit jealous?

Speaker 1:She wanted to date with you.

Speaker 6:I honestly don't think she was jealous. I think she was actually pretty legit because when we first met, like I got there, I was all cute. I was like nice.

Speaker 12:And I saw Jimmy, I was like, hi.

Speaker 6:And I'm thinking we're about to eat together. But he said to me like, Hey, I already ate. But, you know, if you want something, you can go get in a line.

Speaker 8:Oh, are you talking about at the food truck?

Speaker 1:Yes. Wait. He said he took you to a food truck, meaning that you guys ate together.

Speaker 8:That was what we thought.

Speaker 10:We assumed that.

Speaker 6:Well, he ate, but I didn't.

Speaker 1:Oh, my God. So he ate before you?

Speaker 2:Really?

Speaker 6:Before I even got there. And, you know, I really thought it was so rude that he told me to just go get in line and go buy my own food, like, on a first date.

Speaker 5:Yeah.

Speaker 6:Yes.

Speaker 3:Yeah.

Speaker 8:But it also could be, like, a show of you're an independent woman. No, no, no, no. I respect your womanhood and you can support yourself.

Speaker 6:No.

Speaker 1:Listen, if you're going to take me out on a date, you're going to feed me. If I am not fed, or at least wait in line with me. Yeah, seriously. That is just, that is super rude.

Speaker 8:Yeah, I can't deny that.

Speaker 6:Yeah, so... I had this gut feeling, but the Torah reader, she pretty much confirmed it to me. And even in there, it was like I just rushed out of there. And I hear him still arguing with her about giving his money back. And I'm like, ugh.

Speaker 1:Plus, you were hangry at the time, too. I mean, all of it.

Speaker 10:It doesn't help.

Speaker 8:You don't know this, but I have a tarot deck out in front of me, and I just drew the three phone calls out.

Speaker 1:Not the three microphones?

Speaker 8:No. No, I'm a pretty bad tarot reader. And one of the phones must be Jimmy on the other line wanting to talk to you.

Speaker 6:You're joking.

Speaker 4:Are you joking?

Speaker 8:No, I'm not joking.

Speaker 2:Jimmy, are you there?

Speaker 5:Yeah, I'm here.

Speaker 1:Wow, Jimmy. That didn't sound good, buddy.

Speaker 8:You have anything to say?

Speaker 2:I mean, the only thing I have to say is that I don't know what I did that was that bad. I mean, y'all are like, ooh, the guy in the background's like, ha, ha, ha. And I'm like, what, just because I didn't buy her the food at the food truck?

Speaker 8:What?

Speaker 5:Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1:Jimmy, why aren't you starting with I'm sorry?

Speaker 7:You don't see why, bro, that that would be a little upsetting to anybody on a date?

Speaker 10:Like, you ate without them?

Speaker 2:Upsetting?

Speaker 5:What?

Speaker 2:That's a really good food truck. You should be happy.

Speaker 1:I don't... Do you got no manners?

Speaker 4:Oh my gosh.

Speaker 8:You didn't want to wait 15 minutes for her to get there so you could eat together?

Speaker 2:It's not a restaurant, guys. It's a food truck. You go in and go out whenever you want. We want it like a five-star restaurant.

Speaker 1:But why wouldn't you order food for Erica and have it like waiting there for her? If it's like your favorite food truck and you're like, you've got to try this, like just order it for her.

Speaker 2:Because I use all my super money on the psychic, okay?

Speaker 5:Oh.

Speaker 1:No wonder you wanted a refund.

Speaker 8:Psychics aren't cheap either.

Speaker 10:He did spend money on her.

Speaker 1:No, I invited her to dinner first.

Speaker 2:Okay, but I actually didn't even invite her to dinner. I was just like, let's meet at the food truck because that was the place I know.

Speaker 4:So it's on Erica.

Speaker 1:It's on Erica that she didn't understand.

Speaker 8:Yeah, see Erica, he's not rude. He's just poor.

Speaker 6:Obviously obviously poor and bad manners yeah when you tell me we're meeting at a food truck i'm assuming that we're having dinner together yeah.

Speaker 10:It's like hey meet me at olive garden at seven o'clock.

Speaker 1:And then it's like all right where do you want to eat what.

Speaker 4:I mean i think that's a universal.

Speaker 2:Like all right next time we go out then can we meet 20 feet away from the food truck.

Speaker 4:If that's how you solve your problem, my friend.

Speaker 8:Food truck adjacent.

Speaker 7:It does seem like if it's 20 feet away, you don't have to eat.

Speaker 1:And I like how we started this whole thing about how Jimmy put in extra effort.

Speaker 2:Yeah.

Speaker 1:Well, he kind.

Speaker 10:Of did, but it got lost.

Speaker 8:If you're willing to do that, Erica, then we would love to send you two out on a second date and pay for it.

Speaker 1:Yes.

Speaker 6:Absolutely not. There would not be a second date.

Speaker 12:Oh, man.

Speaker 1:It sounds like Jimmy may still need the gift card, though, Jeff.

Speaker 6:Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1:Should we give it to him?

Speaker 8:I don't know if he even wants it anymore.

Speaker 2:You know what? I bet if I went to that psychic again, I bet she would pull a tarot card that tells me that I shouldn't have gone on that radio show because you guys have been no help at all.

Speaker 1:Oh, man. I wish someone else's fault.

Speaker 8:Suddenly now you're on the psychic side?

Speaker 1:I thought you were here. I told you, Jeff, it was the three microphones.

Speaker 9:Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 8:All right, well, obviously that guy was acting a little out of pocket, eating his dinner before his date even got there and then telling her she's hungry, get in line and buy her own.

Speaker 5:Well, then I think that's.

Speaker 1:Not apologizing after he heard it recapped to himself. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 8:That was pretty heartless.

Speaker 1:Yeah.

Speaker 8:But I don't know about the argument that if you ask to meet up near something, then it's assumed that must be your date.

Speaker 1:He didn't say near. He said at the food truck.

Speaker 10:I think it's always assumed.

Speaker 1:Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 10:At the bowling alley, you assume you're going to go bowling.

Speaker 1:Yeah, or let's meet at the bar. We're going to get a drink, Jeff.

Speaker 8:Well, then I'm just glad that they didn't meet near a proctologist's office. Maybe I'm disappointed that they didn't meet in front of the proctologist's office. I can't decide how I feel about it. That'd be the best or the worst thing.

Speaker 10:It'd be a good date. Plus, health matters.

Speaker 3:Yeah.

Speaker 1:It'd be a clean date.

Speaker 8:It's a date that they're never going to go on because we didn't get them a second date.

Speaker 1:But it just gave you an idea.

Speaker 10:It really did.

Speaker 8:I've got some reservations to book after this.

Speaker 4:Ladies texting.

Speaker 1:Who needs a massage?

Speaker 8:If you ever need help with your dating life, you can always email that show.

Speaker 11:Oh, man.

Speaker 1:That show?

Speaker 8:That show that you like.

Speaker 10:It doesn't matter to me.

Speaker 1:All right.
