Episode notes

In today’s episode, we dive into one of the most powerful shifts you can make in your life: appreciation. Appreciation as awareness, presence, softness, and self-respect. We talk about why what you appreciate, appreciates — and how noticing the small, quiet miracles around you completely rewires your mind, deepens your relationships, and brings you back home to yourself. This episode is a reminder that you can’t attract from lack—you attract from contentment, from noticing, from choosing to say “thank you” for even the simplest things. If you’ve been chasing, forcing, comparing, or doubting……

[SPEAKER_00]: To whoever this may impact, sometimes our lives have to be completely shaken up, changed, and rearranged to relocate as we were really meant to be. [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, change feels like loss, transformation is scary, and sometimes, to discover the best versions of ourselves, we must let go of absolutely everything that's holding us down. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to our mystery, your new safe space. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to form a part of your healing journey.

[SPEAKER_00]: Today, we're talking about something that completely shifted the way that I see my life, appreciation, and not in a cheesy, just be grateful kind of way. [SPEAKER_00]: But I mean appreciation, as an actual frequency, and as something that changes what, and who you attract into your life, because here's the truth. [SPEAKER_00]: What you appreciate appreciates, and the moment that you start seeing your life, through that lens, everything begins to shift.

[SPEAKER_00]: Appreciation is awareness. [SPEAKER_00]: So many of us are constantly chasing something. [SPEAKER_00]: In your relationship, a better job, more followers, more recognition, more everything. [SPEAKER_00]: That we forget to actually see what's already here. [SPEAKER_00]: You wake up thinking about what's missing, instead of what's present. [SPEAKER_00]: We talk more about what we lack, that what we love, and we wonder why that feels heavy, or why nothing ever feels enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: The thing is, appreciation is presence. [SPEAKER_00]: It's awareness. [SPEAKER_00]: It's choosing to notice, and I know it sounds simple, but it's actually radical. [SPEAKER_00]: Because most of us live on out of pilot, running from one goal to another, one validation to the next. [SPEAKER_00]: Never stopping long enough to realize that half of the things that we have now, were one things we used to pray for. [SPEAKER_00]: appreciation says, I see it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I see this small things. [SPEAKER_00]: I see how far I've come. [SPEAKER_00]: I see the way I'm growing. [SPEAKER_00]: Even when it's slow and the more you notice, the more you attract things that match the energy. [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciation shifts your frequency. [SPEAKER_00]: Think about the last time that you felt genuinely grateful, like not just saying thank you, but actually feeling it. [SPEAKER_00]: Deepen your chest. [SPEAKER_00]: You probably felt peaceful, content, calm, and in that moment, when you just open, that's the thing about appreciation.

[SPEAKER_00]: It opens you. [SPEAKER_00]: When you live in a state of black, you close off, you tense up, you compare, you overthink, you force. [SPEAKER_00]: But when you're in appreciation, you soften, you stop chasing, and start attracting. [SPEAKER_00]: You start matching the energy of abundance, not because you're faking positivity, but because you're finally aligned with what's real. [SPEAKER_00]: Gratitude is indelusion, it's awareness, it's saying I have enough right now, and when [SPEAKER_00]: it gives you more.

[SPEAKER_00]: It gives you more to love. [SPEAKER_00]: Relationships mirror appreciation. [SPEAKER_00]: This one's big because appreciation doesn't just change your life. [SPEAKER_00]: It changes your relationships. [SPEAKER_00]: Think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: When was it last time you felt deeply appreciated? [SPEAKER_00]: Like someone genuinely saw your effort, your softness, your presence, and said, thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: It feels magnetic, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like you want to give even more. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what appreciation does. [SPEAKER_00]: It fuels. [SPEAKER_00]: If you was connection, and that's why I say appreciation equals attraction. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we're all drawn to the energy that sees us, values us, and celebrates us. [SPEAKER_00]: The same way you crave that feeling, so this everyone else, so when you start living in appreciation, when you start noticing people, complimenting them, saying thank you, expressing love without fear.

[SPEAKER_00]: You become magnetic, you attract softness, because you are softness. [SPEAKER_00]: You attract love because you radiate it. [SPEAKER_00]: And that doesn't mean you have to be over the positive all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: It just means you're intentional about seeing the good, even when life is hard. [SPEAKER_00]: The way that appreciation requires your mind is that the brain is worried for a survival, not happiness, which means it's constantly scanning for a danger.

[SPEAKER_00]: for problems and for what's missing. [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't train it to notice beauty, it never will. [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciation is that training. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like teaching your brain to look for a reason to smile instead of reasons to stress. [SPEAKER_00]: And over time, it changes the way that you think. [SPEAKER_00]: You start catching yourself before complaining. [SPEAKER_00]: You start saying, this moment is enough. [SPEAKER_00]: You start feeling safe, not because everything is perfect, but because you trust yourself to see the light no matter what.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what draws better things towards you. [SPEAKER_00]: energy attracts energy and appreciation. [SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the highest frequencies you can operate in. [SPEAKER_00]: So what appreciation sounds like in real life. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not just saying, I'm grateful for my bed, or I love my friends. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's saying, I love the way that sunlight hits my face in the morning. [SPEAKER_00]: And I am so lucky to have a friend that takes me good morning.

[SPEAKER_00]: I love that I'm learning to love myself. [SPEAKER_00]: It's specific, it's intentional, it's soft, it's texting your friends to say, thank you for being you. [SPEAKER_00]: It's looking in the mirror and saying, I am so proud of you. [SPEAKER_00]: It's looking at your journey, even the messy parts and saying, [SPEAKER_00]: This too is worthy of love. [SPEAKER_00]: And when you start appreciating the tiny details, you start realizing that we're never tying it all.

[SPEAKER_00]: The truth is, appreciation changes what you attract. [SPEAKER_00]: People often ask, how do I attract better? [SPEAKER_00]: And the answer is, by appreciating what's already here, you won't love. [SPEAKER_00]: Start appreciating the love that already surrounds you. [SPEAKER_00]: Your friends, your family, even strangers who hold the door for you. [SPEAKER_00]: You want abundance. [SPEAKER_00]: Start appreciating what you already have.

[SPEAKER_00]: The meals that you eat, the home that you live in, the opportunities in front of you, because you can't attract from lack. [SPEAKER_00]: If your energy says, I don't have enough. [SPEAKER_00]: The universe believes you. [SPEAKER_00]: But when your energy says, I am grateful for everything that I have. [SPEAKER_00]: The universe mirror is that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not about pretending everything's perfect. [SPEAKER_00]: But it is about realizing that even in the imperfection, there's so, so much beauty.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that kind of energy is magnetic. [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciation brings you back to yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the most beautiful part about appreciation is that it grounds you. [SPEAKER_00]: Back and the present. [SPEAKER_00]: So many of us are stuck into places. [SPEAKER_00]: The past or the future. [SPEAKER_00]: We replay what went wrong or restress about what's next. [SPEAKER_00]: But appreciation brings you home to the now.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, this moment matters. [SPEAKER_00]: I am safe right here. [SPEAKER_00]: I am grateful for the version of me that made it to today. [SPEAKER_00]: And once you start living that way, once you start waking up and actually seeing your life, you stop comparing, you stop needing validation, you stop chasing love that doesn't recognize you, because suddenly, you realize that you already have so much. [SPEAKER_00]: And that realization, [SPEAKER_00]: changes everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: Appreciation itself love. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't appreciate your life if you don't appreciate yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: So start there. [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciate your resilience. [SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate your heart. [SPEAKER_00]: How it's so believes in love after breaking. [SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate your body. [SPEAKER_00]: How it carries you even on the hard days. [SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate your mind. [SPEAKER_00]: How it's trying it's best to keep you safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't attract love, peace, or abundance. [SPEAKER_00]: from a place of self-hate, you attract what you believe that you deserve. [SPEAKER_00]: And when you generally start appreciating yourself, you stop settling for people or situations that don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Self-appreciation is self-respect, and self-respect is a traction. [SPEAKER_00]: So here's a daily appreciation practice. [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't know where to start, here's something simple.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every morning, before you grab your phone, before you scroll, before you even invite the world into your head, take a second to check in with you, take a deep breath, and see out loud, or write it down, three things that you appreciate. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't have to be big. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't need to write down new car or promotion, but you can just start with, I am grateful for the sun coming in through my window. [SPEAKER_00]: I am grateful for my bed, I am grateful that I woke up today.

[SPEAKER_00]: but gratitude is what makes life extraordinary. [SPEAKER_00]: And then, at night, do the same. [SPEAKER_00]: Think the day, think yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: Think the moment that they didn't make sense, but talk to you something anyways. [SPEAKER_00]: In think the little interactions I made you smile. [SPEAKER_00]: Think the lessons you didn't know you needed. [SPEAKER_00]: And if it was a hard day, thank yourself for surviving it. [SPEAKER_00]: Because some days, survival is enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: Some days, gratitude sounds like I made it through. [SPEAKER_00]: The more you practice this, the more your energy shifts. [SPEAKER_00]: more open and more magnetic. [SPEAKER_00]: Not because everything in your life suddenly gets easier, but because you start seeing it differently. [SPEAKER_00]: When your focus changes, your reality follows. [SPEAKER_00]: You start realizing that the world hasn't changed, but you have. [SPEAKER_00]: And that perspective changes everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: Granted to listen about ignoring the bat, but it is about giving the good a chance to speak louder. [SPEAKER_00]: Because it's you this, there's always both. [SPEAKER_00]: pain and beauty, chaos and calm. [SPEAKER_00]: But appreciation helps you remember that both can coexist, that even in the middle of chaos, you still have something to hold on to. [SPEAKER_00]: So try this. [SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow morning, when you wake up, don't reach for your phone, but instead put your hand over your heart, take a deep breath, and just say thank you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the chance to start again. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the body that keeps me alive. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for my heart that still loves. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the lessons that made me softer and set up better. [SPEAKER_00]: And then carry that energy with you. [SPEAKER_00]: When you drive, look outside the window and notice how the sky looks different. [SPEAKER_00]: Every day, when you drink your coffee, notice how good it tastes.

[SPEAKER_00]: when you're actually present. [SPEAKER_00]: When you talk to someone you love, what a privilege it is to be understood. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what appreciation looks like. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not performative. [SPEAKER_00]: It's awareness. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll start realizing that your life is full of quiet miracles. [SPEAKER_00]: They've always been there. [SPEAKER_00]: You just hadn't been looking. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll notice the way your friend's laugh when you say something funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: The way your pet runs to you when you walk into the door. [SPEAKER_00]: The way your favorite song always finds you at the right time. [SPEAKER_00]: The way the air smells after it rains. [SPEAKER_00]: The way your younger soul would be so proud of the life that you're living right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's when appreciation becomes attraction. [SPEAKER_00]: Because once you start seeing the beauty and everything, everything starts to look beautiful.

[SPEAKER_00]: The universe mirrors your energy. [SPEAKER_00]: And when your energy says, I'm grateful. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you want to attract better, love better, opportunities better. [SPEAKER_00]: Peace better, start appreciating what's already in front of you. [SPEAKER_00]: Because you can't attract from lack. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't manifest from desperation. [SPEAKER_00]: You attract from contentment. [SPEAKER_00]: You manifest from faith. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't abundance by recognizing that it's already here when you live in appreciation.

[SPEAKER_00]: When you live in appreciation, you attract people who appreciate you. [SPEAKER_00]: You're trapped opportunities that align with your peace. [SPEAKER_00]: You attract experiences, I feel like home. [SPEAKER_00]: You stop begging for what's meant for you because it naturally finds you. [SPEAKER_00]: Because you become what you were chasing. [SPEAKER_00]: And it all starts with noticing what's saying thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Even for this modest, most ordinary things.

[SPEAKER_00]: So wherever you are right now, take a moment, look around. [SPEAKER_00]: and find one thing you can appreciate right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's the way they like it, it's your room, maybe it's the fact that you're breathing, maybe it's not your listening to this, which means you still care about growing. [SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't have to be deep. [SPEAKER_00]: Just whisper, thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the breath in my lungs.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the chance to start over again. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the reminder that nothing is missing. [SPEAKER_00]: because I am already everything. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the people who stayed. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the ones who never left. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the ones who left. [SPEAKER_00]: They taught me something too. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the version of me that didn't give up. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the peace that's solely finding its way back.

[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the thing about appreciation. [SPEAKER_00]: It builds, it builds momentum. [SPEAKER_00]: The more you practice it, the more natural it becomes. [SPEAKER_00]: The more you say thank you, the more reasons you'll find to say it again. [SPEAKER_00]: In one day, you'll realize that your entire energy has changed. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll stop waking up with anxiety and start waking up with calm. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll stop focusing on what's missing and start seeing what's here.

[SPEAKER_00]: In that shift. [SPEAKER_00]: That quiet and eternal shift is what changes your entire life, because when you start appreciating, you stop searching. [SPEAKER_00]: And when you stop searching, everything you were searching for. [SPEAKER_00]: Finally, has room to come in. [SPEAKER_00]: Appreciation equals attraction. [SPEAKER_00]: It's that simple and that powerful. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not just a practice, it's a way of being. [SPEAKER_00]: A way of moving through the world with softness.

[SPEAKER_00]: A way of saying, I trust that what's mine won't miss me. [SPEAKER_00]: Because when you live in appreciation, you're telling the universe, I am ready. [SPEAKER_00]: Ready to receive, ready to let love in, ready to see beauty, ready to see beauty everywhere, and you become magnetic. [SPEAKER_00]: Not because you're trying, but because you're aligned. [SPEAKER_00]: So today, and every day after this, find something to think, find something to love, find something to see differently.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I promise, your life will start to feel lighter. [SPEAKER_00]: slower, fuller, softer. [SPEAKER_00]: And you'll start to realize that pieces and something you find. [SPEAKER_00]: It's something you notice. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been here all along with love, Maffee. JANUARY PRESSURE IS FAKE - How to Reset Your Year & Let Go of January Pressure

January comes with a lot of noise. Pressure to reinvent yourself overnight, to have it all figured out, to wake up as a brand-new person just because the calendar changed. But what if that pressure is fake? In this episode, we talk about the truth behind January expectations, why having a bumpy start to the year is completely okay, and how growth doesn’t need a specific date to begin. You don’t need a perfect morning routine, a strict plan, or a dramatic reset to move forward. Sometimes, restarting looks like resting. Sometimes it looks like pausing. And sometimes it simply looks like…

    15 THINGS I LEARNED IN 2025 & THE RE-LAUNCH OF I MISSED ME

Welcome back to I Missed Me. This feels like the right way to start the year: slow, honest, and real If you’re new here, hi, I’m Mafe. And if you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you for still choosing to listen. This podcast started in 2022 as a safe space for self-love, healing, and growth… but behind the scenes, I’ve been growing too, sometimes beautifully, sometimes painfully. IT IS OK TO LET GO

Sometimes letting go feels like failure, like you didn’t try hard enough, like you’re walking away from something you were supposed to hold on to. In this episode, we talk about the truth behind letting go — of people, of situations, of old versions of yourself. Not from anger, not from bitterness, but from a place of honesty, self-respect, and trust. This conversation is for anyone who’s holding on because it feels safer than releasing. For anyone stuck in the in-between, grieving what was, questioning what’s next, and learning that peace doesn’t come from control, but from surrender. If…

STAYING THE SAME IS HARDER THAN GROWING

In today’s episode, we dive into a truth most of us ignore: staying the same is actually harder than changing. We talk about why holding onto old versions of ourselves feels “safe,” even when they’re quietly breaking us, and why the pain of stagnancy is heavier than the fear of starting over. This episode is your reminder that discomfort doesn’t mean something is wrong; it often means you’re finally growing. If you’ve been feeling stuck, restless, or afraid to take the next step… this conversation will feel like a deep breath. You are allowed to change. You are allowed to evolve. And you are…

STOP BEING AFRAID TO START OVER

In today’s episode, we talk about something so many of us avoid but eventually face: starting over. The endings we fear, the in-betweens that scare us, the unknown that makes us feel like everything is falling apart. But the truth is… starting over isn’t proof that you failed, it’s proof that you grew. It’s evidence that you were brave enough to choose yourself, even when it was uncomfortable. Beginning again requires so much courage, and you’re never actually starting from zero, you’re starting from everything you’ve survived. You’re not behind. You’re becoming. And you’re allowed to begin…
