Speaker 1:If you want to have a natural spa treatment, you can go to this country, a place where there's just one prison, and that becomes a tourist destination. It is Palau for us from the continent of Oceania. Officially called the Republic of Palau. This place is an island country in the western Pacific Ocean. There are about three forty islands. Its capital is in Grulwood. Its official languages are Palawan and English, and the people living there are also called Palawan's.
Speaker 1:The country shares its maritime borders with Federated States of Micronesia to the east, Indonesia is towards the south, and Philippines is to its northwest. There are many many interesting things about this beautiful island nation. Around two thousand, five hundred BC is Its first inhabitants came from Indonesia and started fishing and farming there. Later, in seventeen eighty three, it was discovered to the European world by English captain Henry Wilson, who was incidentally shipwrecked on one of the reeds of this place. This country has been ruled by Spain, Britain, Germany, Japan, and the United States, and it got its independence in the year nineteen ninety four. This country is very particular about the ecology of this place. Therefore, when tourists arrived to this country, they have to sign an eco pledge.
Speaker 1:There is also a video which is shown to them in the flight while they arrive here, which tells them how to behave in an environmental friendly manner around their stay. Isn't that great? Palao has a lake which has millions of the jellyfish inside. Yes, they actually migrate across this lake every single day. Pallao was the first country in the world to create a shark sanctuary, which was in the year two thousand and nine. Talking about other wildlife, there are giant salt water crocodiles which love living here.
Speaker 1:This country does not have a military. In fact, the United States is responsible for its defense. The country has a core jail, which is the only prison in this country, and the inmates living in this prison also contribute to tourism because this place has become a tourist destination where the prisoners sell elaborately carved wooded items within the premises of the jail. Isn't that wonderful? And the natural spa is called the Milky Whale Lagoon, which is also a part of Coroor Island. There is a white mud found here which is considered magical and it is claimed by the people there that if you apply this mud on your body, you start appearing five years younger. This place also has one of the world's best diving site. It's called the Blue Corner. It is a coral peninsula where divers can dive amid many marine animals like manta rays, Napoleon rass leopard sharks, and many colorful fishes. The country also has one of the oldest and largest megalithic sites.
Speaker 1:Oculatists say that it dates back to one hundred and fifty eighty. It is one of the most precious historical sites the country has. Now, let's quickly take a look at the flag of this place. Palau's flag has a light blue field and there's a large yellow circle which is shifted slightly towards the forest side of the corner. So that's the flag of Malaw for us. For other countries, they're flags and interesting things about them. Listen to more episodes of this podcast, and don't forget to like, follow, subscribe, and share Little Explorer's podcast.
